@gamester512

@@MsTeaRex Most of the blame for that lies on the Navy's higher-ups, as they attempted to block Chapman's Medal of Honor (by claiming that he had actually died much earlier in the fight) because they did not want it to become public knowledge that the SEAL Team had left him behind (though in their defense, they did not know that Chapman was still alive, they believed that he had already died in the earlier fighting, and the team leader himself even earned a Medal of Honor), but the SEAL Team leader was always advocating for Chapman to receive the Medal of Honor that he absolutely deserved. If you want to blame someone, blame the Navy brass who had the gall to try and block his Medal of Honor in the first place. This particular battle saw three US soldiers awarded the Medal of Honor, that being Chapman, the team leader, and a medic (even after suffering severe gunshot wounds, he refused to receive medical treatment so that he could focus on saving as many men as he possibly could, and he ultimately succumbed to his wounds just 30 minutes before help arrived). The SEAL Team leader was the only Medal of Honor recipient in this battle to actually survive (and he has stated in interviews that he is still haunted by the fact that unknowingly or not, he left Chapman behind), and this battle ultimately lasted around 17 hours. But by the end of the fighting, all hostiles were wiped out, and the remains of the fallen were recovered and brought home....and the US forces suffered a total of 6 casualties, including Chapman, and to top it all off, this was Chapman's very first active combat situation and he still went out like a hero, fighting tooth and nail if need be until his body could no longer keep going. If you want another incredible MoH-worthy act, look up Roy Benevidez during the Vietnam War. The guy is seen as a war hero for a damn good reason.

@@TheBeesleys99 Since 1863, there have been 3507 recipients of the Medal of Honor, 618 of them posthumously. Now, that's just over 17%, which doesn't sound like a "significant percentage", but I have a feeling that the MoH used to be awarded much more frequently. Since World War II, there have been 860 awarded, and about 529 of them were posthumous. That's 62.5 percent. Out of the other 331, only 69 of them are still alive, including two from World War II. (97 and 99 years old... we can only pray we live as long.)

@@SpearM3064 that's because in the beginning like in the civil war it was just handed out. There was a battle where all the offices received one just for showing up. But it was later on that they made it more strict. And when they changed the standards is when people actually consider it the real medal of honor.

this became known as the Battle of Roberts Ridge, the QRF (Quick Reaction Force) actually consisted of 2 helicopters both full of U.S. Army Rangers, only one was able to land on the ridge (the one seen at the end of the video) while the second landed further down the mountain, it took hours for the second half of the QRF to arrive, but once it did, the Rangers were able to battle their way up to the Al Qaeda positions and take the mountain, during the landing and subsequent fighting, 5 Rangers were killed, bring the total U.S. fatalities to 7

Medal of Honor (Full name is The Congressional Medal of Honor) is one of the highest honors there is in the US. There are Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stars. The Purple Heart is also amidst the highest honors. Some may only be given by The President of The United States. Congress may also issue others. There's usually a formal ceremony involved with a heros welcome. Those men and women went into Hell and survived for our freedom.

Watching peoples reactions to videos concerning the military as a prior service Marine is hilarious at times, because it's a subject that can really backfire on a person at a moments notice. If a person hasn't served in the military or been closely related to or in a relationship with someone serving in the military, they can't really understand what day to day life is actually like in the military. So the reactor will feel the need to add the "Please forgive my ignorance about the military" disclaimer before watching the video. I understand why they do it and it's appreciated, but has there been a reactor that actually did insult or offend veterans in a video and now this is a "Don't cancel me" disclaimer? I really do appreciate the respect the reactors try to show the veterans when they watch videos like this.

@@TheBeesleys99 I wasn't saying you did this or anything wrong and I didn't think you were doing it to avoid cancellation. I was saying, that because of the cancel me culture it has content creators so afraid to be offensive or push boundaries, that they often pre-apologize just incase and they have to navigate their videos and commentary like they're walking through a mine field and being slightly offensive is what sets them off. Sucks that you have to do that but as a subscriber I appreciate it.

UNDERSTAND that he's already faced death so death holds no fear for him.. he likely doesn't expect to live so he goes down fighting. See, WE knew different stories like his, it's different when you ACTUALLY SEE WAR and how awful it really is. Now you understand WHY we stopped giving an eff of what the world thinks of us. THIS is what we do for so many world wide to help free their ppl or protect ourselves and then we are judged for the way we live, think. So many of our today's old men were yesterday's young whom were forced if they didn't volunteer to go to war in Vietnam. They saw horrors, they lived through them.. many of our homeless are vets from this war. The things they had to do and living daily every min with adrenaline not knowing if you'll die. Some minds couldn't recover from this.. also they came back here to being spat on, called baby killers, being hated even if they were forced to go... my own father only was able to avoid going because when he was drafted they saw he had already been shot and lost a finger. He had 6 children at home whom would have been left without a protector and provider had he had to go. We don't hate the other nations and ppl of this earth.. but we won't tolerate the hatred thrown at us for being what we are, fighters. We haven't had a generation that hasn't had to go to war to my knowledge. We want ppl to like us as we DO THESE THINGS to protect not only our own but many many others world wide. So when some European nations verbally attacked us for years.. yeah, we felt the hate that we don't deserve. Ppl in other nations have zero clue of what we really must face and do.. that we lose our young, our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters to wars in amounts that no other nation has lost as we send in the most and are usually first in or right there to merge with others whom have began the fight somewhere. So we APPRECIATE ppl like you, ppl whom can accept us for whom and what we are.. Our environment made us what we are from the beginning. I do like that internet has lessened the gap and outsiders can really get to know us as the ppl we are instead of all the propaganda they've been told about us for years. We believe in helping others, dying and killing to protect others.. these are our CORE values.. you can't change them as they are instilled in us from birth in some form. Many here are religious as well and as such believe in protecting innocent, protecting those whom can't protect themselves, etc. We carry this belief system into our own homes as well. Again.. THANK YOU for WANTING TO KNOW US.
