So at big schools where players that have pro potential get scholarships, many of these players will take very simple easy classes just to pass so they can be eligible to play, since the NFL and NBA require you to go to college first

Yeah, I swear most of them are communications majors lol. They also get preferential treatment and don't necessarily have the same kind of workload as the average student. This really only applies to football and basketball though since that's where the real money and exposure comes in for the colleges if they go professional.

The grades to play college sports is a low bar. A few schools, e.g., Duke, have reasonably smart athletes and win some championships. My fellow students at Stanford back in the day were reasonably smart. Then again, Stanford wins championships only in the minor sports.

New Orleans is at the mouth of the Mississippi River. The grain floats down the river to New Orleans for shipping overseas. North Dakota's alcoholism problem is related to the fact that the state has a high Native American population. Unfortunately, alcoholism is a plague among Native Americans.

We never had our kids believe in the Easter Bunny, but did the traditional hiding plastic eggs filled with coins and candy, and an Easter basket. We usually did the commercial Easter stuff on Saturday then attended church and taught our kids about the true meaning of Easter (the resurrection of Christ) on Sunday. Dinner was usually roast & potatoes, then normal "Thanksgiving" fixin's like cranberry sauce, rolls, stuffing, pie, green bean casserole, etc. to go with the roast.

I've driven through Atlanta probably 50 times throughout 34 years of vacation driving back and forth to Florida. The traffic is INSANE! It gets up to like 8 lanes each way driving through long tunnels and winding back and forth while driving through downtown going 80 mph. I've personally avoided three crazy car crashes where cars ended up hitting each other or the dividing wall. It feels like driving NASCAR lol

When I was 15, my 16 year old buddy had been given a Dodge Colt by his grandmother who lived in South Carolina. We rode with his parents to Greenville, stayed a few days to visit, then my friend and I headed back home to Alabama. Long story short, we almost got totaled going through Atlanta during rush hour. Our nerves were so rattled that we found the nearest payphone and called his uncle, who lived in ATL. We chilled at his place for the night and left out early the next morning. From then on, we always detoured around Atlanta whenever we would go to Greenville...it added a bit of time to the drive but was worth it lol We referred to it as 'taking the scenic route' lol

2:00 there are some academic requirements in order to gain and maintain eligibility to play college sports...but they are fairly easy to achieve. And there is cheating going on...academic scandals of tutors writing papers for players or helping players cheat on a test pop up from time to time, for example. At many universities, athletes are often pushed towards much easier classes and majors. There is one school in southeast Michigan that plays in the big hole that pushes most of their football players into "general studies" as their major...which basically means they just take the easiest classes that the university provides and unless they make the NFL, they leave their university with very little actual academic knowledge.

In 1984, Massachusetts became the first state to ban so-called "happy hours." Calls for change were heard following one particularly gruesome drunk-driving death in Braintree in 1983, and the amendment coincided with the Commonwealth raising the drinking age from 20 to 21 shortly afterward.

The highways in Atlanta, yes......that shot is real....there’s a point in the Northeastern part of the city where i85 and i285 meet and there’s several lanes of traffic overlapping offering multiple directions of travel.....it’s nicknamed Spaghetti Junction.....with all the lanes going off in various directions resembling a plate spaghetti-to a point....it’s odd to get stuck on it during rush hour....as you’re up VERY high......not moving.......but, most of the time, whenever I drive over it, it reminds me of being on a roller coaster-it’s that high.....I live downtown....i85 and i75 converge north and south of the city.....i20 runs east/ west.....going north or south through downtown, the highway is 8 lanes going north and 8 lanes going south.....and it’s USUALLY always busy....semi trucks are NOT allowed to take i85/i75 through the city unless delivering.....if just traveling through, they must take the i285 bypass.....which puts them up going through “Spaghetti Junction”-adding to more traffic issue up there as well.....hell, everyday I drive north to work, there’s never NOT some sort of accident or delay

@Beesley I do want to clarify a _few_ things the narrator said. For example, he mentioned Alaska's violent crime rate. A lot of that can be attributed to alcohol. The indigenous tribes just cannot hold their liquor. That's why the tribal villages have banned alcohol to protect their own people, and also why a 750 ml bottle of vodka can fetch values of $400 on the black market. Furthermore, some of those villages are so remote they can only be reached by airplane, so it takes the State Police _hours_ to respond to an alcohol-fuelled domestic violence call. They also talked about Michigan and the state government's low ratings for transparency and accountability. A good example of this is Flint, Michigan... which you may have heard about, even in the UK. I could write a thesis statement about that incident, but I think the fact that nine state officials were charged with 34 felonies (false pretenses, conspiracy, involuntary manslaughter, obstruction of justice, willful neglect of duty, and conspiracy to tamper with evidence, to name a few) says enough. If you want to know more, just do an Internet search for it. You will find plenty of information about it. The narrator says that Oregon was the only state where he couldn't find anything they were the worst in. _He did not do enough research._ They have among the worst substance abuse rates in the country, with approximately 12% of residents reporting past-month use of illicit drugs; the national average is 8%. In 2007 and 2008, Oregon ranked first among all states in several categories: past-month use of illicit drugs other than marijuana among persons aged 12-17; past-year non-medical use of pain relievers among young adults aged 18-25; and past-month illicit drug use among persons 26 and older.

Favorite Easter tradition??!! Just going to church and eating a big Easter dinner afterwards. My kids (ages 22 and 26) come over for dinner and my wife makes a lot of food for Easter. Usually turkey, a ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and of course a cake. Neither of my kids are married yet, so no grand children but I am looking forward to having some one day. My daughter, who is 26, was offered a new job in Texas and she flew down last week for 5 days to see if she likes it there. I hope she doesn't move to Texas but she likes it so she might. Alaska having such high income doesnt mean much considering a small box of cereal is like $14.00. Everything is super expensive in alaska because everything can only be flown in/around. The crime rates are so high there because the living situations are so mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially difficult.

As it does seem like particularly in small towns, high school basketball is pretty popular there. But there are other states that produce far more talent than Indiana. Indiana is 12th in number of players in the NBA. Even if you factor it in as a per capita basis, they're still not first.

Time to answer some questions The Nevada lacking socialization is honestly not surprising, outside of Vegas and Reno the state is largely unpopulated and even in Reno and Vegas areas there are alot of retired people who move from other states West Virginia being economically depressed compared to the rest of the US is complicated but back in the day the states primary industry was coal mining but environmental regulations and manufacturing jobs making overseas have really hurt the state and most of the eruxsied young people flee to states with more opportunities As for Texas lack of voting in elections compared to other states, it's complicated but part of it is Texas usually votes for the same party no matter so most people know this and don't feel bothered voting. Also in Texas there is still a lot of state pride and once in a while you hear rumblings of them wanting to leave the US, it doesn't go anywhere but I do think that plays a role in their low presidential voter turnout

Funny, I always thought South Carolina would be the best at having a lot of churches, not producing nuclear power. Down here you're more likely to see a church than a strip club, and if you manage to find a strip club, a church will be next door or 10 minutes down the road. By car it's about 5-10 minutes apart to go from church to church. By contrast, when I used to live in NY (the upstate, not NYC), churches were a lot more spread out and in some areas they can be over 30 minutes to an hour apart by car.

LOL what? Welllll, sort of. They will get a career path, but it's not through being educated. It's through the schools cheating to jam their athletes through college so they won't fail out and the school loses a good player. Still, it has nothing to do with moral obligation. Has nothing to do with morals at all, really, since poor kids who aren't as sporty are left to live their lives without a college degree and spend their lives toiling over a minimum wage job.

A very small percentage of people play football at a professional level or even have the skill to play high school football. So while the state overall has poor mathematical skills it does not reflect the people that are skilled enough to play ball. Also the controversy of grades pushed through for certain gifted players. Although this is not proven. And many many ball players are extremely intelligent. Also, Michigan is getting much better now that we don’t have a Governor that poisoned an entire cities water supply. 13:30 venison(the meat from a deer) is absolutely delicious...it ties with lamb as my favorite meat. And a lot of the US has massive overpopulations of deer. We call them forest rats, because they really can destroy ecosystems. I have an amazing deal with a friend of mine who is a massive hunter. Each year, he gives me one deer worth of meat in exchange for me paying the processing fee. I get around 40 pounds of incredible meat for $100. I don't like trophy hunters though...and I especially don't like them when they're hunting species with dwindling populations. I feel like, if you kill an animal, you owe it to that animal to use it for your own survival.

The video by Wendover Productions ("Every State in the US") that you reacted to already is better than this RLL one.

Here in the US, there are many colleges who will take anyone with the money to pay tuition. You need good grades to get into a top-ranked university, but if you have bad grades you can still go somewhere. In Louisiana, they're kind of fond of drinking and fighting, leading to a lot of trouble, especially in the oil fields. As for Maine, Blacks don't like cold, rural states with few job opportunities- maybe they're smarter than the people who live there. They forgot to say New Jersey has the highest property taxes - you can easily pay $20,000 a year on a $700,000 house. West Virginia has the most equality because nearly everyone is at the bottom. The smart people usually leave.

Its impossible at the current time to make everything skill based because of the severe lack in education and opportunities for minority groups, girls, and the poor. Also, "the most qualified" is too subjective. Being white could be an unspoken qualification. Having a name that sounds "too black" could be an unspoken disqualification. Having the potential to have a baby and need maternity leave could be an unspoken disqualification. These problems don't just exist in the US, they also exist in the UK. You should be very careful with these types of statements. Neither of us live in a society where everyone is being treated equally, looked at equally, or given even remotely the same amount of access to equal opportunities. If you wish to get to a world where the most qualified person gets the job, then go out into society and understand what poorer communities and minority communities are dealing with and learn how you can make a difference. Then try your hardest to make a difference.

I'm sorry but the source of these statistics is NOT reliable and are NOT showing the worst of some of these places. Such as Chicago is the WORST At Black On Black Gun Violence. Yet they have the most Gun Laws. Beesley you should stick to other suggestions like Not So Serious Baseball Moments or Baseball pranks. Less likely to be generated with political bias.
