Luka, you are so amazed with the throwing that you don't even realize the hard part about some of these plays, fielding the ball from the ground while it's hopping or rolling, while on the infield(the dirt part of the field) (the grass is called the outfield) is usually harder than making the throw, especially while the player is running while reaching down to grab it

Yeah that one short-hop that that Japanese kid got at short was an absolute ROCKET off the bat and that kid snagged off the hop like nothing. That play was probably my favorite but that's a play that you can only appreciate if you've experienced yourself.

Yes little league word series is always covered by espn and then there’s usually even more channels covering more games. We LOVE our baseball so people watch the series all summer long. What’s better then seeing kids get so hyped up over a team sport?? It’s just simply soooo entertaining. Love your videos!

The kids start playing this game very young and many of them show amazing talent even early on. By the time they are 12 or 13 the top players have already distinguished themselves, and these are those players. And in actuality many of these kids play others sports at this same level. They play football, basketball and soccer too.

More so each region of the world, and it's more like best teams compete. Normally, the best players arent playing little league or just dont have the money to enter, or their team just sucks. Which is also why most LLWS players dont go pro.

Each year there are about 2.2 million little players in the US in a little over 33,000 individual teams. Additionally, there are about 360, 000 softball players. We love our youth baseball.

Here's a short story: The 2015 Runner Up; Red Land Little League from a small town called Lewisberry, Pennsylvania. Some of those kids played Baseball at their local High School (Red Land High School)...Last Year...they won a state title (Red Land's 2nd Title in Baseball; first since 1990). 2 years ago, Red Land ended their affiliation with the LLWS (For a different Youth Baseball Program) 2:20...that's them in the blue

So I know you were impressed by the speeds that the pitchers can throw, but this is something else interesting to consider. Because the field is a bit smaller than a major league field, the amount of time the batters have to react and hit the ball is about the same time as in the major leagues. So that makes it even more impressive, considering the video you watched about how hard it is to hit a major league fastball. These kids are able to hit home runs in the same way players in the major league can (although it’s obviously not as far).

The bunt at 12:14 actually did what it was supposed to do which is advance the runner. You wouldn’t bunt with 2 outs because there’s such a high chance that your batter will get out at 1st, so in close games where it’s reasonable to give up an out so your runner can get to second or third (so they could possibly score on a wild pitch) then you bunt (coach’s call). No one getting out on a bunt is a bonus for the team at bat (and usually an error for the other team) since you’re sacrificing your batter for a better shot at advancing and expect they’re gonna be out.

i played little league from probably 7 to 12 (played pony and bronco after) met some of my best friends there and losing in the basic allstar tournament was my greatest heart break at the time. little league is amazing. and if you didnt know im pretty sure everyone is a voluteer. idk about announcers but every coach, manager and ump is. LL is the intro to baseball and whether you're rich or poor you have a spot. not to mention it puts on the greatest world wide tournament only second to the world cup. like wtf lol

These teams have minimal rosters. 15 is max and many field 12 or 13. Pitching rules are very strict and pitch totals are monitor closely. So, 6,7 or 8 of the kids may be needed to pitch during the World Series. They all play multiple positions in the field to allow for pitching rotations. The number of pitches thrown determines how many days rest is required before a pitcher can return to the mound. Understanding how multi purpose they are makes the outstanding plays even more amazing.

Many people criticize when a player dives to catch a ball saying they are just looking to make a good play to show off. That may be so but usually these players are reacting to a fly ball that are spinning and changing with the wind and other factors. They hurl themselves at speed towards the trajectory and have to adjust the ball-in-glove at the last second.

You also wanted to ask about the size of the fields. For little league it’s 60 feet between the bases and 46 feet from the pitchers mound to home plate. Most of them pitch speeds somewhere around 70 to 80 miles an hour area for the fastballs and will normally be up near the 75 range. That’s equivalent to the 95 mile an hour fastball considering it’s only coming from 46 feet. Most outfield fence distance range around 225 feet will get more in some cases little less than others. The rough estimate for Little League fields are 2/3 the size than in major league.

Aluminum bats are lighter than wooden bats. Which is why the MLB doesn’t allow them. Lighter bats mean quicker swings which means the ball comes off the bat much faster which increases the risk of injury to defensive players.

Just for reference, that google search you found said little leaguers are throwing 50-60mph might be the average for all players. But the kids in the video are some of the best in the world and many of the pitchers are throwing 70-80mph which would be equivalent to 90+mph on a professional sized field. Also many of the highlights in this video were older kids (just by 2-3 years) and they are playing on a field pretty much the same size as a professional field. The only difference being the outfield fence is a little bit shorter. But the infield dimensions are the same as the pros.

Remember not any person can throw a ball far and accurate. Even playing base ball can't be stopped and started up again. You can throw your arm out. You need to practice. These kids...the distance, speed and accuracy is amazing.

I know you try to keep videos short but one video documentary about an hour long covering The Game between The Ohio State Buckeyes and That team up North (Michigan University) explains the American version of a soccer/football derby in terms of intensity, passion and history. I’m a Buckeye fan and I watch it ever year with my dad before the game. Since you are a Brit it would be interesting to see your reaction to it. Great video as well, I played little league when younger but never made a team that tried to get to Williamsburg.

Out of curiosity, I'm curious to learn at what age large scale soccer/association football tournaments begin. I'd wager that the best global sides of 10-12 year olds are pretty entertaining. It is amazing to see how fundamentally sound a lot of these kids are. There are a lot of sports that require greater overall athletic ability than baseball, but very few that require very unique, high level skills. The hitting alone is crazy. I once read that sports scientists have determined that hitting a round ball with a round bat is the single most difficult skill in world sport. I don't recall what metrics they used in order to arrive at that conclusion, but I accept it.

B Modlin it kinda does. We stopped playing on 46-60 at about 9 years old. Those homeruns may now be pop ups or extra base hits. Most base hits would still be base hits, so it would now favor some teams that had more base hits. Throws are a lot faster than a player running, so now base running is harder, teams relied on faster players aren’t going to do as good. Guys have more time to see pitches, so now maybe someone who’s bat was a little slow might hit better now having more time to see the pitch. I’m guessing you never played baseball, the size of a field greatly determines how you play.

I believe the all time record attendance for one game was in 2015 for the US elimination game, 45,700. And total attendance for the first 31 games was over 415,000 that year. It's a real shame the tournament won't be played in 2020.

Im not sure about little league rules but on that clip where the kid caught the ball and then went over the fence with the ball shouldn't that have been a homerun because in the MLB if that happens that's considered a homerun no matter if the player held on and made the catch
