If you re-watch the scene where Roy hugs Jamie, watch Jamie just as Roy starts to embrace him - he flinches. Jamie’s only had abuse from his father figures - it’s heartbreaking once you see it. Some fine acting. ❤️🩹

The reason Ted reminds Beard that it’s his turn to get coffee the next day is because of his father’s death. He’s not being weird or insensitive. Even something as small as knowing you have to get coffee can be enough of a reason for people to not commit su!cide when they’re in the wrong headspace, and Beard looked not like his normal self. Knowing that someone’s counting on you can be really powerful
@aquele4virou33 ай бұрын
I love this detail. It's also why he has some many standing dates with people. Biscuits with the Boss, lunches with Higgins, all the little exchange things he does with Beard, the Diamond Dogs meetings. He wants all the people important to him to know they had a commitment with him and that he will miss them.

1. The speech/scene Ted gives the team in Wembley is reminiscent of the speech Gene Hackman gives his team in “Hoosiers” 2. According to the laws of the game, Law 1 Section 3 Law 1 Sec 3. Dimensions The touchline must be longer than the goal-line. Length (touchline): minimum 90m (100yds) maximum 120m (130yds) Length (goal-line): minimum 45m (50yds) maximum 90m (100yds) Competitions may determine the length of the goal-line and touchline within the above dimensions. So, it’s possible to have a “nearly” square pitch.

Memory loss is a common feature of concussions. In the 1980s, before formal protocol was a feature of sports, I was badly concussed in a football (🏈) game. I played the entire game after the collision, and have no memory of it at all. I came back to conscious awareness on the bus ride back from the stadium. Given that everyone was happy and singing the school song, I could tell we had won, but I had to ask for the final score. As for rest afterward, concussion patients should definitely stay awake for several hours after the initial injury. Not knowing I was concussed, I went to sleep that evening as usual. In later years, I was informed that I was fortunate to wake up.
@HDreamer6 ай бұрын
I read recently that it's actually not that dangerous for concussion patients to sleep according to newer research and in fact the brain can use the sleep to heal a bit already. But I am no doctor.

To add on to the concussion stuff other people have said: I got elbowed in the face playing basketball in high school and got a concussion ( I think I maybe also fell because of that and hit my head?). I don't remember most of that day, I was told later they had to cut the lock off my locker because I couldn't get it open. One of my teachers apparently was the one to take me to the school nurse because I was acting strangely in class.

Made the mistake of refusing treatment at Medical. I've been told I drove home from Charlotte NC to Atlanta GA..one vague memory of the destroyed car on my buddy's trailer. That's it. You can definitely lose memory after a concussion. I've been concussed at least 3 times (I played high school American football in the 80s when a concussion was a badge of honor not a problem lol so truth is there might have been more and we didnt't consider it worth mentioning). But my third one i actually had a reaction to a shot in a doctor's office and the doc had turned his back, i blacked out and fell off the exam table and hit face first on the floor knocked out cold. I don't have a total real memory loss that i know of. I basically remember the reaction starting radiating up my leg, arm, chest, brain. That's it. Apparently i blacked out hit the floor and i just remember waking up with a doctor over me and missing a tooth cause i hit face first.

Oh yeah, a reminder / case you were unaware. Apple wanted more episodes this season so the X-mas and next episode were added after the show was ready for season 2. They are what the industry calls a "Bottle Episode." No furthering the plot, only character development.

That's not what "bottle episode" means. Those generally use pre-existing sets and main cast (to save money), which 2x04 and 2x09 _don't._ Some bottle episodes do progress the plot and some don't; that's kind of irrelevant.
@Nerd_of_Anarchy6 ай бұрын

Ok the part where he tries to make them feel normal about being in the massive stadium. His entire speech is stolen is a reference to the movie "Hoosiers". In that movie a small town team in the 1950's, plays in a championship game in a massive stadium that happens to still stand today. Its a dramatized real story. But things being different with football makes the speech ineffective. But for me it was great small joke.

Anyway, great reaction as always. Y'all Take Care ...
@theadamabrams6 ай бұрын
I strongly disagree. Sam works because he is mature way beyond his age. Jamie is decidedly immature (much less so now than in S1, but still), so pairing him romantically with Rebecca would not have worked at all. I guess there could have been something purely physical (like with "hunky Luca"), but would not have wanted that either.
