British Patriotic Song: Soldiers of the Queen [100k Subscriber Special]

Soldiers of the Queen is a song written and composed by Leslie Stuart. The song is often sung and published as "Soldiers of the King" depending on the reigning monarch at the time. The tune was originally composed by Stuart as a march celebrating the opening of the Manchester Ship Canal. The lyrics were added at a later date and the title changed. The song was then interpolated in the musical comedy An Artist's Model (1895). Today, the song is also used as a regimental march for different regiments in the British and Canadian armed forces.

Splendid video. On the evening HM died I fond myself in the British Legion club, someone decided to play this march on the jukebox to loud cheers and hearty singing from everybody there. As one who has known the honour of wearing the Queen's uniform, I have no shame in admitting that by the end of the song I was in tears.

The original song had the line ‘so when we say that England’s master, remember who has made her so’. Perhaps it is omitted in this version to be more ‘politically correct’.
