The match stick story is that he didn't by actual match sticks with the lighty part on top. He went to the wood supplier and got the sticks without the lighty part on top. So he technically didn't might match sticks, he just bought the wood before they became matches

The reason that man’s house in Italy was so cheap is likely because it was sold as being pretty much empty, missing bare necessities such as plumbing and furniture. Some of these houses even get sold for as little as one euro. It’s a tactic used by Italian boroughs to breathe life back into towns with low population. There’s a recent DIY show called Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job that goes into this topic a bit deeper and actually helps these broken homes get fully renovated.

People MUST continue to use cash wherever possible. The incessant drive towards a cashless society is extremely sinister, and most people are utterly clueless about the potential dangers. Once people lose access to cash they'll lose ALL CONTROL of their finances. A literal press of a button could see their finances either locked or gone. Imagine the banking sector shutting down in a cashless society. People are sleepwalking into a dystopian nightmare.

@ianmacfarlane12414 ай бұрын
@domr508 In most countries tax evasion is treated very seriously, and far fewer people are prepared to take the risk. Besides tax evasion by small companies/one man operators is a drop in the ocean compared to corporate tax avoidance/clever accounting. 30 years ago, almost any tradesman doing domestic work would accept cash, while offering a reduced price - a very rare occurrence nowadays. Anyway, this is a bit of a tangent. People need to realise how fragile a cashless society is. People are giving up every bit of control they have over their finances. Two years ago I had a part time job in a BP service station, and for a day and a half 1600 sites could only accept cash because of a system fault. It was chaos. We couldn't close the forecourt, so we had signs saying "Do not proceed unless you have cash". A lot of people missed the signs, so we had to constantly shout over the tannoy - "Stop...unless you have cash". A lot of people said that they had cash, but they didn't - they'd walk over to the ATM only to find it was empty. All day we were taking contact details as people drove away with sometimes £100+ in petrol. That's how easily a banking fault can cause chaos.

I imagine the landlord lost 57 homes due to Section 24 being introduced. It meant landlords with property in their own name could not write off mortgage payments as tax-deductible. This completely crippled their income. I think the government wants to encourage investors to have property in a business rather than in their personal name. Something to do with transparency or whatever. I heard a couple that retired after having a passive income of £10k per month had to start working again because this legislation meant they were only taking home £1,200 per month. So the gist is that investment landlords often basically have no money. Like, the properties are all mortgaged, and the moment they have enough extra money to put down another mortgage they buy a new place. This allows them to make fairly good returns on their money, but it also means that if something happens and they suddenly get a huge expense, or property gets damaged, or they can't find new tenants, or housing prices go down, or whatever, they can end up basically not being able to take the blow and end up losing everything. Of course, it's smart to have a good buffer so you can take losses, but a larger buffer means more money that's not earning you more money, so it's a balance. Clearly lots of people come out on the wrong side of that balance.
