British Police Officers Sworn In Down Under | Good Morning Britain

In March, Australian minister Paul Papalia appeared on the programme outlining his plans to steal thousands of UK workers to fill vacancies in Western Australia. Now, the first wave of new recruits has arrived. One of the key areas of focus was attracting UK Police officers, and the first batch of police recruits from the UK will be sworn in today - with over 1,000 UK officers applying to make the switch. We’re joined by Ben Woods, who won a national award for bravery having saved the life of a woman by clinging on to her when she fell off the edge of a cliff during a storm, and Anna Miller, 38, who has left West Yorkshire having served there for 15 years, ultimately specialising in domestic violence and then child protection and sexual investigations.

I was offered to transfer to the Royal Australian Air Force in the early 1990's. But due to being eldest son, with sick parents and younger brother, had to stay nearby. But wished I thought more about myself and rely on the then Tory state to look after them..

The Motherland and Australia have such a long and tight connection that our Police services are easy for British Constabulary to easily transfer here. Especially as our policing and common law is almost identical! 🇭🇲💙🇬🇧

I have family in Western Australia. I wasn't aware that Perth had a major problem with incidents of "hurty feelings". Police officers in WA have to deal with real crime!

It doesn’t matter where you move it’s still the same old job tactics that the met will use. Moving to Western Australia does not make you in any higher positions. And Western Australia may not want evil hypocrites of the met to disgrace their force. And if the met is that high in itself why doesn’t it get paid a better salary of £100,000

I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn’t just look at an increase in wages but the cost of living in the new place. Can I get the same standard of car, house, food, healthcare, insurance, transport, etc for my new wage. It’s stupid to just look at the stark number “ooh I can £10,000 more” if you end up paying more for everything you absolutely have to pay for to enjoy life.

It is in Western AUZ, I was told that your country has problems populating that state. They have to rely on immigration. If nobody wasn't to move from NSW what are they supposed to do? My family was just there in WA and said it was lovely but there was hardly any people for community. This is your country being very smart running your country.

I have lived in both countries. And Australia has some racism and prejudice. Over all, they are welcoming and easy going. Now, let’s look at the rhetoric around immigration and the number of people of colour we see here, and the out and out malice that is spewed. I never saw the level of hate in Australia as we have here.
