Got to love British rail. They would put anything into service. A hst with one power car, love it.

I noticed that, amazing! Also 47 633 appears to have a broken pane of glass on the engine room window on the side of the loco. I'd love to go back to those days, oh how I would love that.

@@davidwolstenholme6413Can imagine that HST minus the weight of the dead power car kept reasonable time.

Train spotting at Brum led to plane spotting at Birmingham airport. We would travel back to Walsall as 15 year old's in 1975 thinking, one day i might be going home on train as airline pilot. Well 22 years later it happened. Never know where life takes you.

31206+31131 were working 1V47, 10:10 Manchester - Paignton on 11th June 1988. Right pair of beasts, as can be seen form their loud departure.

Saltley often seemed to have difficulty finding a pair of 31/4s for that working

Absolutely brilliant video counted 7x hoovers on that one, those when everything was proper loco/stock haulage👍

Magical memories of spotting at New Street on the centre platforms at the end of the platforms. Come rain or shine, would be there. Thanks for bringing back my childhood .

New Street. Has gone from one of the most interesting places in the UK to one of the most standardised and boring.

Love the rover 827 advert on the wall in gold

That ad has to be in the background of SO many photos and films from that time!

Great video. That would have been a pretty disappointing haul for this spotter in the late 80's - a lot of ETH 47s that we would regularly see back home plus HSTs. The Western region units would have been our highlight!!

The beautiful Intercity 125. Gorgeous colours. Never saw a DMU in that colour before.
@theroybowdencollection98072 жыл бұрын
Yes there were three DMUs in interesting liveries, one in MidLine experimental livery, one parcels DMU and the GWR choclate and cream example!

They made good use of NSE stock when it wasn't needed for commuter services. Would that be Cambridge/King's Lynn line stock on Great Yarmouth services?

It would seem likely to be 0718 Newcastle to Paignton on 4 June 1988, which was later worked forward, probably from Bristol, by 47079

Another video absolutely spot on Roy it was nice to see a pair of non eth goyles on a rake of mk2 coffins hope it wasn’t a red hot day with no air con!! I must have been somewhere else that day but I did spend a lot of saturdays that year chasing no heat tractors on the cambrian coast that’s when we we’re spoilt for choices of traction

05:15 HST literally running on one power car, must have been a failure. Guess a spare can be added to the rear at Bristol or Plymouth!
