It's nice seeing this footage, as you may or not be aware of, this depot is part of an add on for the console simulation "Train Sim World", and it's nice to see the depot and workings in the real world. Oh for time travel as I have been there all the time as well as stations such as Cargo Fleet & Eaglescliffe!

Great video, brought back memories of my days as a budget controller in the CM & EE Department at York, and often went to Thornaby depot for meetings. A great place, and a great team of people worked there.

Oh happy days 👍🏻 What a great train spotting location back then and before 👍🏻 I can remember the yard on the other sides of the river opposite too 😄 When I go over the A19 bridge and see the devastation of the yard makes me sad 😔 Great video as always. Keep safe cheers Stevie 😎

Thank you. I had a friend who's mother lived in Hartlepool, which was a handy place to stay as this video testifies. On this trip (& others) we saw lots of great traction and lots of workings here, Eaglescliff, Blythe, Newcastle and Otterington on the ECML (see here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJ-npZ6sbpumbKs). I should imagine it's a lot quieter now?....

Rather a worrying amount of white smoke and black smoke from the 20/37 combo. I'm not sure which producing which; it looked like the white smoke was from the 20 and the black smoke from the 37. It looked rather as if they couldn't decide on whether they'd decided on a new Pope or not.

Lol.....i imagine they had both been idling for a while and getting on the main line gave the driver a chance to thrash them up and clear out the exhaust's. 37s i drove were a long way from their last works visit and produced a fair amount of black smoke, the white is more normal just a lot of it re idling.....
