Well, the joke with the organ actually happened to me many years ago. The musician played a really long prelude and a said to my South African friend: The guy who plays the organ just loves long foreplay. I can tell you that we had a difficult time during the service.

Swedes and Norwegians understand each other quite easily. Nobody understands Danes though. The classic comment is that Danes speak like they have a potato stuck in their mouth. I think it's more like they speak with porridge down their throats. The three languages are very close, esp. when written and is easily understood between the countries, just not the spoken language of Danish. ;)

I think Norwegians understand Danish better than Swedish people understand Danish. Swedish people understand Norwegian far better than Danish and Danish people understand Norwegian and Swedish almost as much, maybe they understand Norwegian a bit more actually when i think about it because their written language is pretty similar. /From a Swede

A thing you might have missed. When he was speaking "icelandic" he ended every word with -ur and that's because it's a bit of an inside joke in the Nordic countries

I'm Swedish and I have friends from both Denmark and Norway. One of the Norwegians is from Oslo, so he can speak Norwegian to me and I can speak Swedish to him and we understand each other relatively well. Then there's one of the Danes who I can almost understand, I just have to ask him to pronounce more syllables and letters in each word. He understands me relatively well, though. Then there's the guy from Stavanger. I couldn't understand a single word he said. He could understand me, but I couldn't understand him. The guys from Aalborg are also really hard to understand.

The "posh" fin-swedish accent he's talking about is really only in the south part of the country, Helsinki area, and not all sweish speaking finns even in that part of the country speak like that, hell if you go up to the middle of the east coast, every little village has an accent that sounds like a completely different language almost!

The translation says Scandinavian when the comedian saiys Nordic (nordiska). Which, really fucks up a later joke...where they clearly distinguish the difference.

I think you must be from here or know the Nordic languages quite well to fully get it. :) It doesn't help, though, that the subtitles are a little off sometimes. For some reason the subtitler get the pronouns wrong several times. At 0:56, for example, he says "I was curious", not "they were curious". And they really mess up at 2:40, because here it ruins the joke. The correct translation would be: "They're having trouble understanding themselves too." And at 4:55 it should be "Your knowledge of geography is inferior." He wasn't saying that Finland is geographically inferior. :D I don't think I agree with him about Norway, though. Most Norwegians understand Swedish really well, so I don't think there would be any delay.

I have some family in Norway. Thing is that if we speak relatively slow and clear we have little problem understanding each other. But if I speak more informal, fast and sloppy, and not the sort of formal stockholm accent that's usually on TV. Then they have a really hard time following that. Norweigans have even more difficulty understanding people from Scania. I've had to "translate" what someone says in 'scanian' to my norweigan family several times.

These type of video (the one you're reacting to i mean; not necessarily yours) seem a little bit pointless to me TBH.. The humour is very much based on assuming the viewer is very accustomed to regional accents, slight cultural differences between distinct regions, age-old (nowadays lighthearted) "rivalry" between neighbours and tongue in cheek stereotyping that is ingrained and taken for granted by everyone who's grown up in that specific part of the world - Regardless if it is in Sweden or any other place on earth. So it's sort of pointless to add subtitles to this type of humour; While some of the jokes can come across in translation, it's sort of like expecting someone who is born and raised in Tanzania and only speaks Swahili to find a stand-up routine about the rivalry between Wrexham and Chester, and how "one talks a bit like this and behaves a bit like that while the other one more like a bit of this and that", to be funny just because the subtitles are in Swahili. With that said; As a Swede (who never really found Johan Glans all that funny even with full udnerstanding of the context TBH) i occasionaly enjoy watching reactions from non-swedes to things relating to my country - However as of late several new reaction videos from different creators to exactly this type of subtitled localized humour seems to have popped up, and sorry to say it... They're sort of as pointless as the subtitles themselves. I'm glad you're enthusiastic about Sweden though, but there are better things to be enthusiastic about than a middle-of-the-road family friendly comedian who does jokes about things that probably go *woosh* anyway.
