You're right. Quality music like this seems to be rare nowadays. Taeyang originally was poised to be a rap artist with his bff, G Dragon, the formidable leader of Bigbang. Instead, their 5 member group was formed in 2006 and became the driving force for what is known now as the current Kpop music. Taeyang eventually focused on the RnB genre drawing inspiration from MJ. Definitely need to check out his discography. He's got a White Night documentary that showcases his album release and world tour that followed. You'll see him in his live performances as a solo artist. And with his group Bigbang, they're the blueprint that groups after them look up too. Taeyang and his dance video of Ringa Linga is the reason why I fell hard in the K-Pop rabbit hole many years ago when his boy group Big Bang were the Kings of K-pop. You have to check Ringa Linga out! you can even spot Lisa there from her pre-debut era, she was basically a baby at the time when Taeyang was one of best dancers of the industry, she was so cute, and of course If she earned a spot at his dance video then, it was because even from that era she was already one of the best dancers of the company. Btw, Big Bang and Blackpink belong to the same company YG, and basically all my favourite artists in the K-Pop universe are from YG, they all hit different, their artistry is at a whole different level.
