As a typical American girl (born in Texas) who has been shooting since the age of 9 or so, this was extremely stressful to watch. No one should be shooting for the first time without complete supervision. 😳 Not your fault that they didn't do their job. You were raised in a place without guns and they should have been sensitive to that and accompanied you for safety the entire time.

Yeah there are a few main rules that EVERYONE with a gun should learn before even touching one. the two big ones are: 1. treat every gun as if it is loaded 2. Do not point the barrel of the gun, intentionally or unintentionally, at something that you do not intend to shoot. The instructor should have went over this with you before even pulling the guns out of the case

Made critical mistakes at bad times but you have to remember people coming to expirience it from countries that dont do it, it can be quite a lot the first time om you mentally because you work yourself up and you dont know what to expect and you have to depend on people for help as well as to keep you alive thus video is proof. In usa its very much seen as a means of resisting tyrannical governments because usa is one big tyrannical government rn and its made up of smaller governments that cater towards specific areas all the way down to local level systems so history is not fond of governments they tend to all be entrenched critically flawed demonic entities. Thats often the main reason. Citizens without guns are subjects to their regimes to us. But theres also this cultural aspect where weapons were used as defense against even more numerous other threats such as loose pitbulls or perhaps back in 1771 or 1840 it was more like wild packs of wolves and bison. Usa and canada share a lot of land and canada is basically a facade nation designed to hold usa back so they have way less people than wildlife and there is so much room for wildlife refuges and national parts and fish hatcheries etc because its not restruxted to the size of germany in north america. The history is full of tall tales if people going by wagon across the west thousands of miles by horse and getting robbed by bandits so people do not want to give up their guns and they want it to be easier for any good people to have their own. There is this aspect religiously from the God aspect where its known as a right to have weapons by the creator of the universe and its clearly needed for other purposes such as pest control small game to big game hunting even to the extremes you have alligator and bison and grisly bear. Firearms are good for anti riot control. When they come to burn your house down you worked hard for you have a means to defend it. To a lot of people a gun is seen like a hammer it is really good for driving nails but i mean its up to your imagination to figure out what else theyre good for. Lime target practice, plinking and recreational shooting for fun like blowing up watermelons.

As the former manager and certified trainer at a gun range, I felt so bad for poor, sweet Lia! I was feeling her pain! LOL! I would never send someone out on the range without some good training in the training room so you would have totally understood safety and range etiquette, and you would have known about the casing ejecting from the firearm. I also would not have started you with a 9mm, but rather a .22 caliber which is light and easy to fire, but still requires the same attention to detail and targeting. Then I would have moved you up to a 9mm. As a former competition shooter who has shot thousands and thousands of rounds, I can tell you that it is very relaxing when you begin to feel confidant and more familiar with the sport. It is definitely a kind of zen that blends breathing, focus and reflexes to achieve best results, and it takes your mind off the rest of the world for awhile. In any case, I am so proud of both of you for trying it. I have trained Brits before, and since it is not in your culture, it is a scary and nerve wracking thing the first time you go. I am happy that you gave it a try! The staff there seemed super friendly! You did quite well and Lia really drilled that first shot! Brilliant!! Love you guys!

That's what you should expect from a well trained safety official. Bravo.

Project KJ yes. I wrote in another comment how I think pistols are way more stressful than rifles. Pistols are small and have a big area to make a mistake. Rifles, the recoil is smaller, you shoot more accurately and they are so long, you have no choice but to point them down range. Wish they would have shot an AR15 instead.

My experience when I went to england: I once went to this small town (they called it a village) in england, and the moment I said I was a Texan, they immediately came at me (in a polite way actually) with so many questions, it was so funny and I felt so popular for once in my life, they asked me so many questions like: - Do you all ride horses everyday? - Do you all carry guns? - Are there cities over there or is it all country? - Where's your cowboy hat? Questions like that and well I answered: - No, I drive a car, a 2018 Camaro ZL1 (my daily) - Yes I carry a Glock 9mm handgun, and i own a lot of guns, from rifles, to handguns to shotguns, I got all types - Yes there's cities, tons of them, I live nearby one actually - my cowboy hat is at home, along with my boots, and lifted truck And I know they were kind of making fun of me a bit but it was still fun to see their reactions to seeing a "real Texan" for their first time in their lives, I'll always remember my first trip to england (:

The people running the place knew I was fresh, yet still placed me right next to a guy offloading (yes offloading) a .44 mag, in an empty range. Literally made me jump every time they fired off a shot, and made focusing on aiming and focusing on properly handling the firearm quite stressful.

Safety advice everyone: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target ..
@Jack_Stafford
@Jack_Stafford 5 жыл бұрын
Never point at something you don't intend to shoot, safety off until you are ready to shoot, never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to actually shoot, not while you're aiming not while you're moving around or getting ready, only when you are already aiming, safety off and ready to shoot do you ever put your finger in your that trigger. This gun shop was a bit negligent and not assigning them a dedicated trainer that could go over the basics and reinforce them and stand there with them. Thankfully there was not a tragedy. The way it was handled in Irish Diane's video where he took her step by step as if she were a child, because if you never handled a gun you should be treated like a child that handles a gun for the first time. Because people are used to gesturing with their hands and pointing with their fingers and you need to constantly remind them don't point that anywhere except down range or towards the ground and it needs to be repeated, nicely, several times for adults to get it because we're just not used to doing that. We pointed things with pens and our fingers and other objects and it seems very natural and you just have to get that muscle memory that when it comes to the gun, no pointing, no trigger.

Remember Legends, Guns and Prosecco don't mix! About the gift they gave you - LOL - It is not a camera case. It is called a beer cozy, you put a bottle or can of beer in it and the insulating material helps keep the beer cold. The holes in the bottom let the condensation drip out. Americans like their beer ice cold. Loved the video. I also went to a gun range once in my life just to see what it was like, with one of my mates. Glad I did it, but once was enough for me. I left very anxious like you did. Can't wait for the next Texas video! 👍👍👍👍👍

Lia looked so worried standing behind Joel while he was shooting. Their descriptions of how they felt reminded me of people driving a car for the first time. The folks at the range really should have walked them through shooting for their first time. I think that’s part of why they were so stressed out. For me, shooting has always been very relaxing just because the concentration required allows you to forget everything else. It’s like lifting weights with very heavy weights: you need to concentrate of doing it correctly so that you don’t injure yourself, and that concentration on the task at hand allows you to leave everyday stresses behind.

Firearms safety rules exist for your safety and that of people nearby. Rule 1: Treat all firearms as if they are loaded. Rule 2: Never let the muzzle cover anything you’re not willing to destroy. Rule 3: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target. Rule 4: Be sure of your target and what is beyond it. Follow the rules and shooting becomes one of the safest recreational or sporting activities. The mental focus required for accurate shooting is one of the reasons why so many consider target shooting relaxing. You leave behind your other worries when you properly focus.

I'd recommend that if you're a first time shooter or are still new, and if its available, go to an outdoor shooting range. There is usually a dedicated area for instruction and it doesn't feel claustrophobic. You can usually have some separation between yourself and other shooters if they make you uncomfortable. I'm glad they had an attentive PSO on the range with them.
