If I remember correctly the shield here was known as the 4 foot shield and it and the 6 foot shield were used up until the late 1990's when they were replaced with the interlocking shields. I last saw the hickory stick in use in Bosnia in the mid 2000's.

Could you please provide a reference regarding the 'British' manufacture of M1952A body armour - in 1972 or in the early 1970s? And also a reference for the British manufacture of fillers for the US TYPE body armour (M1952A and M-69) in 1972 or in the early 1970s? As stated in the video. Thanks - that would be useful (because I wasn't aware this occurred).

I only stated that M-1952A pattern body armour was manufactured in the UK, I didn't specify a date range as I'm not sure on that, there were various modified covers for this and the 3/4 collar body armour used from the early through mid-1970s which are presumed to be of UK manufacture or modified US covers, they show different pocket shapes, some have exposed press-studs on the flap covering the zip, some have one rubber shoulder pad, some two. This is gleaned purely from studying period photographs. This then leads up to the introduction of a standardized cover for the 3/4 collar filler in the mid '70s using touch and close fastenings on the front closure and pockets and with rubber pads and stops on both shoulders.
