I thought Branwell, Anne, Emily and Charlotte all died of consumption, otherwise known as tuberculosis. Can you catch tuberculosis from contaminated drinking water?

I did a quick read of information by the World Health Organization, and there was no mention of spreading through water. According to WHO, "TB is spread from person to person through the air. When people with lung TB cough, sneeze or spit, they propel the TB germs into the air. A person needs to inhale only a few of these germs to become infected."

I don't think you can, but one wonders if the general poor health of people - perhaps, in large, caused by drinking the local water - was weakening their immunity to all types of disease, of which TB was one of the most prevalent, and most deadly of the time.

They had a female servant for 30 years, Tabby who was a local woman. Tabby joined them at age 50 and this lady reached a ripe old age of 80+ so I think it is more than just water. Patrick also lived quite a long life. My guess is Patrick coming from a farm in Ireland with 10 children had good genes. Charlotte's husband Arthur Bell Nicholls also lived a long life and he also was a child of 10 from a farm in Ireland. I suspect Patrick's wife brought in weak/compromised genes to the family. My educated guess.
