We were later to see this kind of scenario during J.M's and later Ouko's assassination when I was of age and could understand things. The same uncontrolled expression of grief, the same running battles with police - w-ha! Back to Mboya I can almost feel the chill in the air on that cold July day. May his name continue resounding in generations.

@@Napolean45 bro, I can tell you are an intelligent gentleman. D'you honestly believe there was chaos or unrest situation that lead Uhuru and raila to shake hands? Who was fighting who? Kikuyu's were trading freely in luoland and the vice vasa. The handshake was all political and personal reasons. I agree with you peace is very important but they should not use it to justify their crookedness. Hakuna peace handshake ililete. Keep in mind it was way passed elections and court battles tukisha tulia

I first caught a glimpse of tom mboya in a junior history book way back in 1990. Then I had no inkling of who he actually was save for a smattering knowledge that he was just one of Kenyan nationalists. Now 34 to date browsing Kenyan history on utube( I am a Zimbabwean who is a fan of Kenya after falling in love with its liberation struggle as mirrored in ngugi wa thiongo's novel a grain of wheat). I was suddenly captivated by the man mboya and it seems the man never died and is living somewhere else in this world. I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow that gripped the Kenyans then if a remote person like me feel tears by just seeing the funeral after so many years ago. Nature doesn't keep geniuses for long and indeed the good die young. I just wonder if all humans have heart and conscience. Just to stop a bit and contemplate the gravity and degree of such an unholy act of taking out a life might change one's heart despite the immensity of promised rewards. Life is holy and none but God the giver of it has the right to take it away. Rest in eternal peace great mboya, your achievements charisma and inimitable prodigy was so enviable the devil and his agents sought out your life. You are a living and undying pain not only for Kenyans but Africa as a whole
