Reel 1. High angle shot of HMS Vanguard approaching Cape of South Africa. Narrator speaks of how this route has been followed by other explorers - Dias (?), Drake etc. Crew of Vanguard stand to attention whilst band plays. View of Table Mountain. Moving shot of the Vanguard. Crowds await. Royalty stand at the front of the ship flags are raised. King George VI, Queen Elizabeth (the Queen mother) and the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret disembark from the boat. Various dignitaries salute and shake hands with the visitors. Narrator describes Capetown.
Royal family is driven through the streets of Cape Town in an open topped car. Various shots of waving crowds and the moving car. Moving shot of a highly decorated building with a sign which reads: "Welcome - Welkom" Hundreds of people line the streets and balconies of buildings. Opening of Parliament. City Hall - crowds gathered to hear the King's speech. Government House. Home of Field Marshall Smuts. Nice family shot of the royals standing in the garden whilst Field Marshall Smuts films them with his cine camera. The house is the former home of Cecil Rhodes. The King and Queen walk in the garden. Newsreel cameramen grab some shots. Basutoland (?)
Visiting tribes in remote areas of the Cape. A great number of people on horseback gather to greet the King. C/Us of various tribesmen on horseback. Royal couple are driven through the crowds in an open topped car.
Queen Elizabeth sits under a parasol. Durban - military parade through the streets. Royal family stand on podium whilst military march past. Representatives of Durbans' ex servicemen and women march past.
C/Us of some of the men as they walk past. Southern Rhodesia - Victoria Falls. Various shots of the royals looking at the views. C/Us of the falls. Zambesi River "eternally wears a rainbow for its diadem". C/U of Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret on horseback. They ride through the bush then go for a canter on sands of Bonza Bay (?) Kruger National Park - lion walks close by the car.
The Princesses look at animal tracks. Various shots of wild animals in the park - zebras, antelope, hippopotamus. Queen Elizabeth takes some shots with her cine camera.
Northern Rhodesia - men in traditional dress propel primitive canoes along a river. Tribesman at the front of the canoe chants as he rows. C/Us of the other canoeists. Chief of the Barotzi tribe - King Imrico (?) is brought to visit the British King. Drums are played as the Barotzi King arrives. He bows before the King and Queen, they are seated on high thrones: "Ancient Africa salutes the presence of another civilisation."

They didn’t want the King to touch the black war heroes. And only a decade later South Africa became a republic and was thrown out of the Commonwealth.

Amazing how imperialists claimed parts of Africa as their own in the expense and detriment of the natives.

My man, thats how kingdoms work. Find and conquer. Shaka zulu did something similar. He conquer other tribes to make his kingdom powerful.

He didn't conquer you lie all those they were defeated they still kept their land those who ran they ran for their lives not chased out even north Africa Zulu also fought with them and defeated them he didn't took no land only victory
