Job well done. Takes a lot of resources, but then if one is into details like you seem to be, then so be it :) Well done again :)

Interested to see how the cuts were made as they need to absolutely square

You know those plastic mitre blocks used for cutting wood? It's one of those and cut with a razor saw.

Hi, This is one of the best videos on YT I found. Highest level of modeling. But why in 4 minutes only? Each step would have deserved tat least ten-ten minutes or much more. One question, if I may: what tool did you used to cut the coach, straight, perfect, without any damage and destruction? Thanks!
@peterhiggins33293 ай бұрын
would be nice to show how you cut the body up. Not many modellers know or understand how to use a razor saw.

I enjoy customising and weathering wagons and Coaches, but I just couldn’t do this to a new wagon. If I was doing this sort of project,it would have to be out of scrap or supercheap preowned units.

New, old, whats the difference, long as you had fun and end up with something you're proud of it doesn't matter one bit what the source is.
@class66 Жыл бұрын
Mmm it's a waste of another wagon, I suppose you end up with another chassis for another project as there loads of other unusual pga .. I'm thinking of just cutting one in half and adding an extension..

Has Hornby not modelled it correctly?! Why we do the manufacturer thing!?
@ukdieselandelectricrailway18904 жыл бұрын
This is actually the old Lima tooling (reused by Hornby), and is fine for the stone PGA's. www.flickr.com/photos/hmillington/2034858547/ However, there were longer versions used for salt movements, and the only way to get them is by converting them. www.flickr.com/photos/21513703@N06/34773340365/

Very informative video but might I suggest a different title? It isn't very specific and could be confused with a lot of different content. :)

So, you buy two wagons to create one? Mmm...Something not quite right there.
@ukdieselandelectricrailway18904 жыл бұрын
If you want some of these... that's how you do it. www.flickr.com/photos/21513703@N06/34773340365/ If you go to the shop and buy some wagons, place them on your layout and watch them go around.... it's not long before the buzz of a new model wears off. But if you build a wagon kit, or convert a model like this... that buzz is endless because you'll always look at it and say "I made that!"

Chances of the average person having both the tools and skill to cut and shut and having a model that ends up like that are next to zero !
@ukdieselandelectricrailway18904 жыл бұрын
That's the kind af attitude that limits your chances of developing the skills to convert a model into something that doesn't exist!

@@ukdieselandelectricrailway1890 .......it’s called being a realist ! Being the rivet counter that you are then buying two wagons,cutting them to bits to make one wagon a few millimetres longer may seem like a good idea ! But most people just buy what’s already available and get on with it .
@ukdieselandelectricrailway18904 жыл бұрын
@@stupididiot369 No it's not.... it's you making excuses for not being bothered to try expanding your skills to a lew level of expertise in the hobby. Calling me a "rivet counter" is just a slur so you can pretend that it's my fault for being a far better modeller than you will ever be! You know what the difference between you and me is? When I watched this video, I said tomyself "Oooh, this is a pretty easy conversion... and I'd like some of these PG007B wagons for the salt traffic to Warrington and Runcorn!" You watched it complained that most people are like you... too lazy and uninterested in expanding your skills! As a result... you will ALWAYS be a pathetic amateur who plays with 'toy' trains. I'm not at all surprised at your user name!

@@ukdieselandelectricrailway1890 .....yawn ! ..........whatever ! Calling yourself a way better modeller than me was the entire point of my first comment ! And if it’s perfection and realism that’s your end game then don’t forget that if your using Hornby 00 gauge then the track is not true to scale .Maybe you could do another video of you buying two pieces of Hornby track ....cutting them to bits ....widening them slightly to make one piece slightly wider so it’s true 00 scale and not HO ! ......and then you can slightly widen the wheels on that wagon you’ve just built !
@ukdieselandelectricrailway18904 жыл бұрын
@@stupididiot369 Your reply proves the point of my first reply. The reason why I'm a way better modeller than you are, is because I started out learning simple skills such as changing numbers, or adding details such as handrails.... and then incrementally devloped more skills over time. The funny thing is, I'm not a perfectionist. I'm probably able to do P4.... but with over 1000 items of rolling stock, the cost would be astronomical! So, I do Finescale OO as a pragmatic middle ground. Tell me... ...why do you think expanding your skills is a problem for you?

Thats a lot of waste for a longer rake 😂

These wagons ran in short rakes of about 4 wagons, so it's not a big problem. Unlike going to the shop and buying a few wagons and running on your layout... the buzz from being able to say "I made that!" will never go away!
