Because people keep asking why this was cut (or accusing this show of cutting this and further hurting Britney): Britney’s team controlled EVERYTHING back then, despite her personal feelings (which is very much what she’s alluding to in this interview). Because of the conservatorship and how badly Britney was being used by her own father, likely her legal team demanded that this clip was cut. If the Jonathan Ross show had NOT complied to cutting the clip regarding her conservatorship, likely her team would have demanded that the entire interview be cut. If the show didn’t do that, they would have faced legal problems from Britney Spears’ legal team, and they probably would not have won, meaning the clip/entire interview would have been cut anyway and they’d have legal fees and negative publicity to deal with, as well as no chance to ever interview Britney again. Basically, their hands were tied. I think the fact that Jonathan Ross reminded Britney of all the support she has was lovely and I think the fact that they’ve released this clip now (I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to wait until an NDA expired or something) is a good thing. Basically, no need to blame this show for something they literally had no control over at the time. Blame Britney’s conservatorship.
@grzegorzkadziolka3389Ай бұрын
I’m glad we’re on the same page! It’s really important to consider the context of what Britney was going through during that time. The restrictions and control imposed by her conservatorship significantly impacted not just her personal life, but also how media appearances were managed. It’s a relief to see that the narrative around her is evolving, allowing her to share her story more openly. And yes, Jonathan Ross’s support for her was truly heartwarming. It’s a reminder of how crucial it is for media outlets to respect and protect artists, especially during difficult times.

@@b2bgood870 The entire reason Britney was in a conservatorship in the first place was because her father was able to successfully convince a court that Britney was not mentally well enough to take care of herself or her affairs…for 13 years. However, I don’t think that would have had anything to do with this situation. Likely, her team at the time, who were entirely controlling her life, wouldn’t even let her be interviewed or appear on television unless they had control over what questions were or weren’t asked and probably control over the final edit of the interview. The Jonathan Ross show would have had to agree to those terms to even interview her in the first place. So, if her team wanted a part cut out and the Jonathan Ross show didn’t comply, they would have likely been breaking some kind of contract they’d agreed to to have Britney on in the first place. Thus, her lawyers would probably have won the case. This is all speculation but it’s a very likely scenario given what we know about the conservatorship and how insanely controlling it was for Britney.

Let's not blame Jonathan; the conservatorship had the final say on what could be aired and what could not; everything was controlled. Thank you for airing it.

To think the media called us conspiracy theorists and people from her team were trying to sue fans when these were her own words!! Britney we love you ❤

I dont know if there are other Britney fans here, but you could just tell that after her creating Blackout, there was Circus, Femme Fatale and Britney Jean. It just felt different. I could hear the passion was gone and it didn't make sense to me, because in her lowest time she made Blackout.. BLACKOUT. Now come on now... She was not allowed to create. Poor woman. I hope she is not damaged as much by her "handlers", because you can tell her spirit so so pure.

This woman is riddled with anxiety. As a fellow sufferer. This is what true anxiety appears to be. She can’t even truly fathom 100% what’s going on minute to minute because she’s too present listening to every breath in the audience. Anticipating every word coming out of the interviewers mouth. She’s trying to portray her character in a way that is not going to get her attacked by headlines. She is trying to hide her grief yet wears it in her inability to experience emotions fully. All of these thought patterns comorbidly happening has put her in a long term sense of overdrive, distress, and agony. Her brain chemistry has been permanently altered from trauma and substances. (Some against her will) I just want to give her a hug. And tell her she is, and has always been MORE than enough. And if she wants to fade away into normalcy and spend the rest of her life attempting to heal and find solace. That is encouraged greatly. The circus she was enslaved in has taken its toll on her.

I may be the odd ball out, even though I in no way condone the conservatorship, I do miss this Britney. Her teeth were beautiful, she was so well dressed, makeup was on point etc. I know she’s living free now and not under lock and key and I’m happy for her, I truly am, I just wish she took care of herself a little bit better. She will always be beautiful, always be the Princess of Pop and regardless if she ever makes music again, I’ll always be thankful for the years we had her for. This should’ve never been edited out though. I’m glad it’s finally being shown. You can tell she had a lot of anxiety during this interview, she plays it off very well. ❤️🥺

Wow I can’t believe I’ve never seen this! What a great interview. He was really working to make her feel comfortable. It makes me want to cry watching, knowing what she was dealing with inside. I’ve never heard her talk about her conservatorship but it clear made her uneasy. All love to you Britney ❤

I was in the audience for this. I remember turning to my boyfriend at the time with my mouth wide open that she even said the word conservatorship. I didnt remember fully what she said so it’s kinda underwhelming watching this again but validating to see it all these years later after people online insisted I was making this up

Thank you for releasing this and people need to realize he is still risking himself doing this. These types of people are far scarier to deal with than anyone realizes until they are in it…. - slavery survivor
