I’m not the best musician or songwriter in the world but I know enough & must say that this song is not easy to sing! It may sound simple but the melody is all over the place, in every range. High to real low in the same line so the fact that a 16yr old is accurate pitch wise is very impressive. Her nerves had to have been getting to her in that situation for the 1st time. She did a great job & it’s no wonder why she became what she did.

Fascinating, you can hear her vacillating between her true thicker alto/mezzo voice such as at 2:28 with the “I must confess my loneliness” line, and the thinner “baby voice” just after, with the “is killing me now” almost like you can hear the internal struggle between the real Britney and the manufactured Britney, same as at 1:03 with the “hit me baby one more time” in her real voice and the “oh baby baby” in the fake voice just after

This is her real voice, if you listen to her as a kid she had a deeper soulful voice. Her record label thought it would be absolutely brilliant to make her sing higher and outside of her normal range, thereby robbing her and the whole world of her real voice. They had a few reasons for doing it but ultimately its stupid to strain someones voice like they did with hers.

I hope she'll be back singing in his real voice soon)

Well, you’re correct to an extent. Max recorded two demos with his voice - then Britney came in and recorded it - scrapped them vocals as she was so nervous then they started fresh the next day or so. But correct there was no official demo with her vocals.

I appreciate the upload of this version and all comments regarding seeing more of her real voice. But to be honest, this version is awful even though I applause to how she can bend her voice into the lower ranges. If she had released her debut album in this way, for 100% it would had been flopped. None of us probably had ever heard of her and she wouldn't become the legend she is now today, even if she had to sacrifice her own life for it. That's just my two cents. As a music interested and little bit backgrounded person, I even ask how did they get her from singing like this to sounding like her "famous" voice on the records. I mean not even Auto-tune and some effects like doubled tracks or a chorus can accomplish such a difference. Really phenomenal to turn something like that and into something like we all know her for.
