well check her unrealeased songs from 2005/6/7 (before her breakdown and her conservatorship), they"re more edgier, deep and dark, they shows what direction her career would take artistically because she composed and wrote them herself, hopefully when she'll be free she'll be in total control so she can put beautiful songs and concepts like she began to do before

@@josef-1209 that's not true :D it is different for every singer. You're right in the fact that a lot of female singers feel most confident in their mid chest range, but for example: Ariana said that for her high notes are very natural and easy while she needs to train a lot to sustainably reach low notes, too. She is constantly working on her lower register which is why she just recently incorporated low notes like E3s in her songs. Meanwhile someone like Miley Cyrus (or Britney) have very strong low registers but struggle in higher belts - Miley can't really sustainably reach notes above E5 for example. I personally think that Britney's low notes are really strong and show a lot of potential (as you can see in her Sometimes live snippet from this video or her singing not a girl not yet a woman with the piano (from her movie)), just like Miley Cyrus or Pink are very strong in their low notes. Additionally, I also think she has a beautiful falsetto/head voice. If you watch her SNL performance of Everytime or her live version of the song during the onyx hotel tour, whenever she goes to the high part in head voice ("and this song's my sorry") she sounds absolutely beautiful, but that she is struggling with the higher belt/chesty parts when doing it in her "baby" voice with bad technique.

She's still a Soprano even without the baby voice. The tone she had as a kid isn't her "real voice" either, she was lowering her larynx(same thing Xtina did/does) trying to sound like an adult. Her "unaffected" voice would be something like the clip at 3:25, bright and nasal still but not as exaggerated. Britney was never an amazing singer, not even in her youth like some would like to believe but yeah she was better than she is now, even though that's not exactly a high standard to top.

“Vocal range is the range of pitches that a human voice can phonate.” Yes it’s from Wikipedia, but I have not heard anything that includes you must have a certain tone to fit a vocal range in all my 16 years of singing. @@DereBear not to bombard this thread, but I get what you mean; coloratura sopranos have different tones than dramatic sopranos and that includes a different range too. I think it’s just semantics, but with something like mezzo and soprano, I don’t think tone/timber would be the final determinate of someone’s range, their pitches would. It’s been a while since I’ve studied it, but those would be, I would think, the difference between a soprano 1 and soprano 2 in choral ensembles.

While Xtina is living a happy life with her beatiful family, works on multiple projects as well as her own music, looks georgeous and keeps up with the latest fashion trends even in her 40s, Britney has none of that. She lives in her empty house, with her shady boyfriend, doesn't have access to hair stylists or MUAs, wears clothes that stopped being cute 15 years ago, can't see her children, doesn't go out to public, doesn't do any interviews and doesn't even own her social media. her deeper voice is not completely gone, i have a feeling she doesn't sing in the baby voice when she is at home and just does it when recording and because she doesn't sing live she doesn't have to strain her voice constantly. A demo for her album blackout called Baby Boy uses her deep voice and t sounds great, some of her unreleased songs she has sang in a deeper voice and that's probably why they remain unreleased, what i don't understand is that the fans have expressed wanting to hear her 'natural' voice but the label still wont allow it, if she did an album with no auto-tune and her deep voice it would sell a lot i think.

You could tell that she really was struggling with maintaining the style they taught her to sing in, particularly around the '97 to '99 period, where her natural vocal would break through occasionally in her singing. She was always destined to be a powerhouse singer, but the style and techniques they applied to get vocal wasn't natural to her range that its damaged her vocal chords over the years. Try gurgling like a baby over a long period of time and you realise it actually strains your throat, so I can only imagine what she went through whilst trying to manipulate her voice for the record company. I wish there were more videos of her online, pre-fame, that showcased her amazing natural vocal work.

This popped up on my feed. I am so glad it did. I have conducted choirs and classically trained singers. Agreed: she was told/forced to sing in a certain way because it would sell. "Unlearning" habits can be hard, and working out what is habit, vocal damage, natural talent, and inner confidence can be tricky. Good news: she has a far more interesting and fascinating voice than she is given credit (or the material). Her lower register is amazing (bit like Miley in that respect). She has potential to sing great country records (like Miley). Britney really has life experience to back up the country side. I would love her to find a vocal coach who will "lift her up" - I really feel there is still such talent there. Most of all I just want her to be happy, free and healthy with whatever choices she makes.

Britney is clearly a contralto, but producers allegedly made her sing as a soprano or a mezzo-soprano. My theory is that both Britney and Xtina were being launched as tween stars post Mickey Mouse...and at that time there wasn’t a great deal of difference between them vocally, so Britney’s cutsie image and baby voice left Xtina to be the big belter. It kept them out of each other’s lanes and allowed them both to become big stars. It’s always all about the money in the end..and not ever for or about the artists themselves. Hey, a Britney video from you is a nice suprise. The title made me think the video was gonna be a bit overdramatic but I think you did a great job. As you said, it really feels like she just picked up unhealthy singing habits and some of them pop up unconsciously, even when she is not trying to sound the way she sounds doing her "baby voice" rather than her voice being severely damaged. Also, a lot of people on the comments are calling her a soprano but I personally believe that she is deffinetly a mezzo, she literally has no, and never had any, soprano qualities.
@lightning0506
@lightning0506 3 жыл бұрын
That's not really true, Britney seems to be true soprano, just a lower one, every voice type is a broad spectrum of possible voices. Not every soprano should sound like Ariana Grande you know For me Britney sounds like around normal "generic" soprano voice, at her younger years especially, her "powerful voice" was created by lowering larynx which can be done by any high voice in order to sound bigger, that's exactly her case
@IListenToSingers
@IListenToSingers 3 жыл бұрын
She's an obvious Soprano even without the baby tone. The dark, heavy tone clips from her childhood is her shoving down her larynx trying to sing like an adult. Her totally unaffected tone would be something similar to 3:25, still bright and nasal but not so over the top. And also her singing the high note on "I Feel For You", her voice sounded thin and bright cause she wasn't pushing down her larynx

If you want to understand Britney’s baby voice, you have to listen to Robyn. Britney was supposed to be the American answer to the European teen star with her distinct nasal voice, so Britney got the same man who wrote Robyn’s first hit to write hers and adopted a similar voice.

Her tone would have ended up sounding baby-esque either way because when she was at the MMC in the middle of the 90's her voice became more and more nasal and it's the nasality of her voice that also leads her to have a baby-esque sound. It actually comes natural to her. I kinda agree about Robyn. Britney's first albums were created along the lines of Robyn's first album. Robyn was the first female Pop Star to represent the Max Martin's signature sound and she had a lighter voice (not baby-esque though) so perhaps Max Martin wanted to recreate a similar sound with Britney. It was also a weird fortuity, given that "Baby One More Time" was initially offered to both TLC and 5ive who rejected the song.

I think if she gets with a very talented vocal coach and train hard, her voice could grow into something even more amazing!!!! I love Brit Brit!!! 🙏🏾👑🎤❤🎶

This reminds me of Blackpink Rosé. Her voice used to be darker and deeper in her teens. She had some moments when her voice sounded bright (like the current one) but not so much. Now, she's fully singing in her bright tone + heavy vowel modification. She can do whatever she wants and whatever the company wants, I just hope she won't damage her voice in the future because we know how much she loves to sing.

@@thegoldenpolarbear5936 I feel like roses voice is naturally more high pitched/ nasal the way Camila voce is naturally up there too. So rose also has the fake voice theory thing, but it doesn't have the damage Britney does cuz Britney thrives in the low notes and midbelts- like she has a naturally dark deep voice

Oh this is sad but really redeeming as well. Her lower register is so rich and if they worked on that (which seems obvious to everyone) she could have had such abrich lower tone that also was controlled. Christ these videos are so upsetting to sit through cause she is loved by so many people. She sue the F out of those record companies and her family that made her do things when she was not of age.

I was obsessed with Britney growing up and used to record her interviews and performances on vhs lol! Anyways Idk if it was her label bc I remember in interviews her saying she thought her voice was just ok and that she wished she had a bigger voice like Whitney or even Christina! She started lip syncing pretty early in her career and she said the vocals were just turned up along with her voice to help her bc she dances so much! I do remember her voice cracking even when she started too. I didn’t care tho but I think she chose to focus on putting on an amazing performance over perfecting her vocals bc it is hard to sing and dance anyways! Also where you show her sound changing is around the album she was super excited and proud of bc she wrote more of the songs and even came up with some of the melodies! Her and her manager would even talk about how she had a lot of control over everything from the beginning bc they all trusted her creativity. Even most of her music videos were her ideas. She was just such a queen and I still can’t believe with how much control she had they were able to take it away 😡

the way the people treat her when she was signed and forced her to throw away the gorgeous voice that she herself loved is so gross. if the label didn't force her to change up her voice to nOt SoUnd sImIaR tO cHrIsTIna, then she could have been a star rated or vocalist overtime...she talks a lot about how much she wishes she had that deep gorgeous voice too. it makes me so mad how this she was forced to lose something so beautiful like ffs ugh

The label didn't force her to not sound like christina. Britney debutted way before christina. They force her to have the baby voice simply because it was what's in the pop music at that moment. The label just did everything they wanted to do yo make her popular to sell her music. When christina debutted with genie in a bottle era it was the same timied light cute voice. They probably wanted to make her into a baby voice singer too. But xtina was much more confidence and a diva which probably she stood up against her label and got somewhat control over her music and artistry. I really think that if they have stayed closed britney would have had gained some of xtina confidence and she wouldn't be used by everyone.

@@mysteriousbluehat2035 ahhhh thank you for letting me know about this tbh idk much about their debut stuff but I was always under this assumption ig cuz those two get compared in the way style that Selena and Demi do. It's still tragic how Britney remained stuck in an obedient industry plant type of way, I wish she didn't give up that strong strong voice because she could have become a musical legend given her sky high popularity

@@oceanamelodies8062 with 1-2 years of intense vocal training she can still get that voice back or at least recover some of it. But in all honesty she was never “star rated” potential. It was good, but not that good.

He did another interview in 2010s and talked about it and how the fit was perfect for Britney image and marketing and that his "theory" was right
