I'm 51 years old and live in Alabama in the Southern USA , I fly The American Flag high and proud in my yard . My grandad fought in WWII and as long as I can remember, he would raise his flag in the morning and he would take it down at night. When he got alzheimers, me and my brother would raise his flag and take it down for him at night , and he would salute it each time . He loved his Country until the day he died

Something you need to understand is that the United States, unlike a lot of European countries, doesn't have a long history, language, culture, royal family, etc. to create an identity. Since our founding we have been a diverse country made up of people from many different places. So our identity as a nation is based in our founding documents (the Constitution and Declaration of Independence), symbols like the American flag, and the IDEA of America. For a long time we have had an enormous amount of immigration. Most people in the US can trace their ancestry somewhere else. The patriotism that you are noticing is the means by which we create an identity as a nation and a cultural cohesion. That's how people from all over the world can "become" an American pretty much as soon as they are naturalized because the idea of America can be embraced by anybody that wants to. I have studied French for years and my ancestors are from there, but I couldn't move there and "become" French the same way someone from practically anywhere in the world can "become" American. It's the idea, the flag, the patriotism, that holds us together as a nation.

I watched a KZbin video that said the reason Americans are friendly and smiling is the fact we're immigrants and we couldn't connect with language so we learned to smile to one another to establish friendship. We're very friendly and social. Why countries want to portray us as villains is beyond me.

I spent 24 years and 3 combat tours in the US Army Infantry and though I am now almost 66 I would still put my uniform back on and grab my rifle to defend our Constitution and way of life. I am intensely patriotic and fly my flag each day, 24/7 and lit at night. For me it is the symbol of all that is great about our country. As for Toby he was a True Red, White and Blue patriot who loved and was proud of our country and military and it comes through in each of his songs, not just this one. His passing this past Monday at a young 62 left an unfillable void not only in country music but in the consciousness of our country. Love and miss you Brother, Godspeed. If you are looking for one of his best, look at Hope on the Rocks. Toby always said it was his favorite.

Glad there were many angry, well-armed Brits in red, white, and blue too. The British military fought side by side with America in Iraq and Afghanistan with their usual professionalism, efficiency, determinism, and endless bravery. We salute all the UK soldiers who battled with skill and not a few who gave all for the cause of freedom and righteous indignation after 9/11. In 1776 we were angry, nasty ass cousins but today the "special relationship" is solid and something rare to be cherished.

TK was doing this song at his USO shows, over 400 such at last count, and the Commandant was correct that he needed to publish it and let everyone have it. He received the Spirit of the USO Award and as you can see in the video, he would play for military folks wherever he found them, even sitting on the ramp of a Chinook helicopter and playing for a couple dozen here and there. Anything to boost morale. I live in Tulsa so have seen him out at Oklahoma University sports a few times, so he seems to be getting a lot better after his bout with stomach cancer last year. Another great one for patriotism, especially at 4th of July Independence Day celebrations, is "Made In America."

Our national anthem is about our flag, not our land or peoples or accomplishments, etc. It stood strong and undefeated through the battle. We’re very proud of that. I can’t understand, with everything y’all withstood in WWII, you don’t take more pride in your country. Your flag is your nation’s identity to the world. Be proud!! So much to be proud of!

The National Anthem is about the flag - but, *The Flag* flying over Fort McHenry was representative of Americans refusing to bend the knee to the British in 1812 when they made a 2nd attempt to rule over the US by force.

I think every American has had family fighting overseas somewhere at one time or another. My brother was in the Coast Guard during the Gulf War. They automatically become part of the Navy during war time. He was patrolling the East Coast for enemy during that time but had 7 cousins deployed overseas during that war as well. My father in law was in Air Force and was deployed to Thailand during Viet Nam War along with two of his brothers in other branches of military. Our family currently has 4 nieces and nephews in three different branches of the military with three overseas. It’s a lot of missed Thanksgivings, Christmases, Birthdays, Weddings and Funerals missed by our military family members not to mention that they and we just miss seeing them/us everyday and hugging them/us and wondering are they going to come home safe and sound to us. But at the same time, we are so very proud of them volunteering for such a life changing job to keep us safe and others safe around the world. We owe God and our military for the wonderful life we have here in America! England is the Mother Country, we had problems in the beginnings of the making of our Country but became friends and Allies and I believe we always will be. Thankful for the Brits who support us and fight alongside us. They’re just as brave. ❤ I fly my American Flag everyday from my front porch. Two of our neighbors have flag poles in their yard with Old Glory flying on it with a light on it at night. God, Family and Country in that order is our motto!❤❤

I really recommend listening to the Star Spangled Banner like You've Never Hear it Before. It explains why we are so proud of that beautiful flag and what it represents.

Listen to his American Soldier and I'm sure that you can say Britsh Soldier, like he did when he came to our hometown in Canada, and when he was done, he flipped his guitar and shown our Canadian Flag. So great of him. Please listen to it and don't forget to listen to his funny ones too, like As Good As I Once Was, I Want To Talk About Me, How Do You Like Me Now, and so many more.
