I will never forget watching this game. It was horrific. And a miracle he made a full recovery. Kudos to the trainers and first responders.

I'm not a sports person, so I wasn't watching the game when it happened, but when I heard of what had happened, I was immediately praying for Damar to pull through. Stuff like that is one reason why I'm not really into sports, I _hate_ seeing people get hurt with a passion, accidentally or otherwise, let alone have a near-death experience like Damar did. But I can only imagine how many prayers were being made for Damar to pull through, and clearly those prayers were answered. Damar had an entire nation's worth of guardian angels watching over and praying for him on that day and during this entire ordeal.

I was watching but doing something on my computer in the other room when I heard my brother-in-law -- picking up my parents to go to my sister's house -- mention there was an injury timeout on his way out the door. It was a full-on journey when I got out there seeing the first responders. I still maintain that if the league wanted to force the Bills to play, McDermott would have forfeited, and who knows, maybe Zac Taylor would have made it a double forfeit but I wouldn't care if he didn't. (The Bills have a little negative karma for actually running a play against the then-Redskins when they had 10 on the field for Sean Taylor, in my opinion. As a TOTAL aside that was the one game the Bills ever won that I wish they lost.)

Everyone was saying prayers for him. I was going to go up and sit with mom and pray for her. She needed her strength and strength for her son. I just knew they wouldn't let me in - so i just prayed for her at home 💜✝️💜🙏

They said he had what is called commotio cordis which is where the hit he did was in just the right spot where it caused his heart to go into an irregular rhythm causing it to stop. Damar is wearing more padding over the left side of his chest now due to this and experts are recommending all football players start doing this so I’m hoping the NFL starts requiring it.

I know of an incident in Little League baseball where this exact same thing happened to a 9 year old boy, the baseball hit him in the chest at the exact wrong moment and stopped his heart, and he immediately dropped to the ground motionless and unresponsive. The only thing that saved that boy's life is the fact that his mother was there and she happened to be a nurse. She was able to keep her boy alive long enough for paramedics to arrive and take over. The little boy now wears a similar sort of chest protection under his baseball uniform whenever he plays baseball. This is why I feel that all sporting events should have some degree of medical personnel on-hand just in case an emergency happens.

oh I was watching this game too !! So frightening and scary !! Thankfully he is okay ! ♥ Also he did not have a heart attack it was a cardiac arrest, big difference between those two- "Cardiac arrest results from electrical disturbances that cause the heart to suddenly stop beating properly."

Damar is actually back playing again which is incredible. He is working to get defibrillators in underserved communities sports facilities. The Bills training staff won the Pat Tillman award at the NFL awards last year which relates to the other video I sent you about Pat Tillman to react to

Yeah and KZbinrs like Urinating Tree are treating him like a regular backup player rather than a walking talking miracle -- which honestly is kind of, if you've heard of a left-handed compliment? I'd call that 'left-handed heartwarming'. (Then again Tree is a Pittsburgh native and Damar went to the University of Pittsburgh, so I think it's okay from him.)

From what I understand it was a freak accident. The ball hit him in a specific spot in his chest, with just the right force in between heartbeats. Which threw his heart rhythm off causing the heart attack. Had your phone on vibrate BP1? 😁

I was watchi g the game whe I saw it happen. I knew exactly what it was from the tv show House. If you hit someone in the chat hard enough when there heart is between they have a heart attack. Also they showed the first catch return but I didn't see the 2nd one which was over 100 yards. It was amazing. And every team playing that Sunday put Damar's number 3 outlined on their fields. I wasn't a Bill's Mafia before then but after... I have to share them with my Bucs.

As an NFL (49ers) fan, I was in shock, then in prayer for Damar. It can be a very violent sport. When any player is seriously hurt, as a fan of the NFL, we all pray for a full recovery and for comfort for the team and family. All team loyalty is out the window in those moments. We become fellow human beings concerned for a brother.

I watched this live, I saw him collapsed the medic ran out and they cut to commercial. When they came back the ambulance was there and the players were crying. I thought he was dead. My family was speechless. So glad he is okay now. I’ll never forgot the emotions of watching that play out.

Great to see the donations, the recovery. Wish there could be a medical responder for everyone who has a medical emergency.

He had a commotio cordis which is a disruption of the heart rhythm as a result of a blow or hit. It doesn’t happen often because it has to occur at just the right instance a window of about 40 milliseconds. It’s 97% fatal if not treated within 3 minutes. They did cpr on Damar for 9 minutes. I remember watching it on TV. It was so scary.

It was explained as a very rare condition called commotio cordis, when a blunt force disrupts the heart's normal rhythm, a a very specific point in the cardiac cycle..

I think the biggest reason it was scary is exactly that, it doesn’t always happen in the NFL, these guys are in top notch health. It’s different when you see a player hurt, from a tackle, or of a body part that’s hurt because of a tackle. But this just happened, he just collapsed, there have been other instances on the field, but this one was just different. In my opinion European football always has someone crying out, being dramatic on the field, yes, there are real problems and real issues that happen on the fiend and it’s scary to see. 😂😂😂 but it’s always something European football😉.

He had commotio cardis. Look it up. If you get hit in the chest at a certain point, it can send you into cardiac arrest. It’s rare, but more common in baseball. If you think it was the vaccine then you are a ridiculous person.
@krw73
@krw73 7 ай бұрын
There are many that suspect that the vaccines play the role in his heart failure, just like many other healthy young athletes that have suddenly dropped with heart conditions. He was pretty sheepish when discussing condition and was very careful about what he said.

Bullshit. He got hit in the chest and disrupted his hearts rhythm. It happens in other sports, usually Baseball, when players get hit in the chest.

Stop trying to spread that bullshit misinformation. Vaccines had absolutely NOTHING to do with this incident and it’s disgusting that you are using it to spread antivax agenda.
