That free throw, dude appears to have been a bench warmer. This was midseason, but he'd only played in 11 previous games for a total of 59 minutes of game action, attempting 10 shots and making 6, and not until that 11th game did he actually attempt any free throws but went 0-2. So naturally here he's in the game for 5 minutes but gets two more free throws and makes both as the hornets win. Honestly looking at the stats from his limited playing time he looks like a bit of a specialist you bring in late in games when it's close but you're ahead and maybe the other team has the ball, because he's really good at blocks and rebounding and not so much offense. But if he can play reliably well in those sorts of situations, it probably won't make him a star but he'll hang around the league a while.

In the NBA if the ball is touching the rim it is in fact goaltending to touch it. This is different from FIBA and Euroleague rules.
