This young man deserves every accolade he receives. I was in Houston during Harvey. That hurricane wasn’t a high-wind one like Katrina; rather, it stayed around for three days and dropped 55 inches of rain on us, flooding any neighborhood that was below the vulnerable levee or one that didn’t have adequate grass, which is most. And then the 'Cajun Navy’ showed up from Louisiana and rescued countless people from the flooding with their flat-bottomed bayou boats. About a year later my parents moved to NC and they had a hurricane, and the higher-ups in NC told the 'Cajun Navy' to leave, “We’ve got this.” and I remember thinking from Texas how stupid and petty hose officials were for worrying that ‘their toes were being stepped on by the highly efficient and successful “Cajun Navy.'

❤ OMG Daz,you're so right...people don't understand how bad flooding can be!! 1972..I was kid living in Corning/Elmira NY ( town called Big Flats) Hurricane Agnes came..we were Lucky, lived on high ground..but near by Chemung River Flooded 5 miles over banks..6 houses in neighborhood totally washed away..11 badly Flooded & bridge that connected front half of development to back washed away...I can remember standing in yard watching houses barns & Ferris Wheel from local carnival float by...We were Lucky...My Mom's family lived in Wilkes Barre..one Great Aunt..house had to be demolished..debris from flood took out 1/2 of it ..other Great Aunt house Flooded just short of 2nd floor...Grandparents Really Lucky..they'd sold house 6 months before, retired to Florida...kept in touch with couple who bought house..their 3 story Victorian..almost totally Flooded to roof and Worst..a cemetery near by..caskets popped out of ground..family came back..5 caskets in back yard..3 shut 2 open & bodies out..Props to that kid!!
