Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers have to be the two most mellow individuals to ever have a series on TV. Just listening to either of those two guys talk could calm down the most hyper person on the planet .

At the start of the pandemic Bob Ross' twitch channel blew up and there would be thousands of people in there and it was like a giant stage show. When he'd clean his brush, the whole live chat erupts in "beat the devil out of it!" When he'd add something like the first stroke of a cabin in a wonderland, people would all freak out and say he ruined it then say he fixed it 5 mins later lol. It was a lot of fun.

I have a tradition that every Saturday Bob Ross is still played in Mississippi PBS at 9am. I watch it and then the next 12 to 13 hrs I watch college football. It’s my favorite time of the year. Bob always kicks it off because he calms me before the Irish play.

When you start painting just remember, you will not be that good the first couple you do. Don't get discouraged, just keep going. His program was called the Joy of Painting for a reason. You should feel joy while doing it. The more you do, the better you will get!

I grew up watching Bob Ross. Other kids in my school would talk about staying home sick from school and watching The Price Is Right or something, but I had a tape of recorded episodes of The Joy Of Painting, so I would just watch a marathon of his show until I fell asleep. It was always so soothing.

i'd drawn ever since i was a kid, took advanced art in HS, and was one of a handful of students in nominated for top artist in HS. went to college and took a few classes, completely different level of understanding and talent. don't get discouraged b/c you cannot. What Ross did was years and years of experience, my art instructor had decades and made everything look easy. A lot of what Ross did was knowing that nothing was permanent in a drawing/painting so it's not hard to fix, something that I myself just couldn't get passed.

I love how you react to his paintings. I loved him as a teen and he is sadly missed. Before you buy the Bob Ross painting kit you will want to watch the Netflix special where they interview his son and those closest to him. It is a real shame how he was exploited both during and especially after his death. You may be shocked where your money goes to.

Actor David Arquette (Scream) is an official Bob Ross Instructor!! lol There are 3 copies of each tv painting. The first is like the first draft. The second is the finished product and he has that set next to the camera and he copies it again, live. When I say copy, I mean it's the outline he will follow. BUT, he with get "crazy" and have a happy cloud or bush or a happy tree come out of his imagination.

I've done several Bob Ross paintings and I would say it takes about 5 before you are comfortable with his many techniques. After the base and sky are done, there are many small techniques that need a little practice, but it does come out very nice with a few tries.

The hard part is that if you want to use his technique you really have to get your supplies from the Bob Ross Inc. company. There is a specific type of paint and brushes he uses to make his technique work; just any paint from the local craft store won't cut it.

By all means, buy some quality painting supplies and go to town. But, please don't buy the Bob Ross branded supplies. The people that own it really abused him at the end of his life - they didn't care about him, his illness, or his suffering. They only wanted all the money they could get out of him. Also, don't follow his example with the paint thinner and beating the brush. It's pretty much understood that that kind of exposure to the thinner is what caused his cancer. Please be much more cautious with it.
@nielgregory1087 ай бұрын
3:37 that is what is speculated to give him the cancer. Always seemed funny but knowing now, I hate to watch that part. What is up with this chick calling it a "spatula"?? Obviously, they are just reading copy and know nothing of a painter's knife.
