Our navy isn't just use as a power protection. The USA militay is also the worlds largest hospital, construction company, and humanitarian force. This is also the reason why we have military installations everywhere.

Funny enough, every person in the military gets paid by the same pay scale, regardless of what branch. Of course there are so called " bonuses " for certain things like danger pay etc.

My husband is a Navy vet who spent a decade on carrier’s. Believe me it wasn’t for the pay. He has however, been to countries around the world which was a unique opportunity. Also, “power projection” is highly effective at keeping people from feeling froggy and killing their neighbors. We keep the peace as much as possible. I can’t offer any excuses for what politicians get us into.

You have to realize that in short term you’re serving and receiving military pay however long term depending on your assignment you’re learning skills. Anything from hydraulics working on aircraft controls, welding of different metals and different methods, all the way to nuclear physics maintaining the reactor! When you get out you’re going to have skills for a career and practical experience which gives you an advantage over any college brat with no actual experience

The bigger the ship the faster they can travel. It is incredibly hard to sink our aircraft carriers because of how they are designed. All of the Ford Class are assembled in Newport News, Virginia because it is near the world's largest naval base and naturally deep harbor in the world, Naval Air Station Norfolk.

You guys should check out any videos you can find related to the nuclear reactors themselves. Most of it is classified but there are some videos out there. The power they can generate is unbelievable. I heard one story of how a carrier docked somewhere after a tsunami and used it reactors to power an entire city. I always enjoy you guys' honest reaction and appreciation.

The US and French navies can land and take off from each other's carriers and sometimes do for cross training. Not sure how useful it is in war, but cool that they can if needed for emergency.

A month? Nah... According to the Navy, if you're on a CV, you can expect one deployment every 18-24 months... but that deployment can last 6-9 months (or longer, depending on operational needs. So on a two-year hitch, expect to spend a quarter to almost half of that time at sea. And no, they're not paid any more than anyone else of the same rank in the US military.

War games are set up with limited parameters that often make it possible for the US to "lose." This is by design; it's how you learn to get better and better. I pity the fool who'd damage (sinking is very hard) a carrier in real world combat; the retribution would be enormous.

No country should be 'messed with.' International law applies to, and protects, all people, not just nations with aircraft carriers.

"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." A phrase which was coined by Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong. Basically, laws are meaningless without the power and means to enforce them. Did international law stop Germany from invading Poland in 1939? Did international law stop Japan from attacking Peral Harbor in 1941? Did international law stop N. Korea from invading S. Korea in 1950?

Studies have been done to determine why Americans join the military. Here's a summary of their findings. "...While 37 percent of soldiers identified cited both institutional and occupational reasons for joining the Army, a full 46 percent said they enlisted due to purely occupational reasons; only 9 percent said they joined for entirely institutional ones. (Interestingly, those who did cite service as a calling were mostly medics.) "...In other words, *the overwhelming majority of respondents had economic reasons for joining up;* for most enlistees, it seems military service is a job first and a calling second. END Source: The National Interest, March 19, 2021 So the answer is *no,* patriotism is not the driving force for enlistment. Economics is. And it's not even close. Not coincidentally, other studies have shown that conservatives overwhelmingly believe (incorrectly) that patriotism is the primary reason Americans join the military, while liberals and progressives correctly identify job/career as the motivating force.

A relative of mine joined the military at 18 because his family didn't have the means to pay for college, and perhaps he was not interested----I don't know. While in the military he got a Bachelor and then a Masters degree which he didn't have to pay for. Instead he paid college for his wife. He retired from the military at 38 yrs. old with health insurance and other benefits for his wife and children. With 20 yrs military experience and a Master's degree he got an excellent job with one of the big military contractors. Has worked there about 18 years, makes over $200,000/yr plus his small military pension. His wife also got a Master's in between the first and second babies. She now makes $100,000. They both are planning to retire with 20 years in present jobs. They saved for the children's college but they are such excellent students they have received scholarships so the student savings have not been used entirely. They paid off their house long ago and have renovated it twice in 30 years. When the children were young they traveled extensively throughout the country. Most recently they have taken the children overseas. All started with an 18 year old joining the military. They have been persistent, kept their jobs and are going to end up with 3 pensions between the two in a couple of years.

For some reason, for every good video that you guys find out there that’s well written/informed and has good production value, you then react to one that is pure garbage. There were several glaring inaccuracies that, with just a quick cursory search of google, are readily apparent. First of all, he left out several different ships that deploy with the aircraft carrier, but the most egregious one left off the list was submarines. An American aircraft carrier always has at least one lurking in the deep. The second misinformation that irked me was when he stated that it was easier than people thought to sink an aircraft carrier. There was a test that was done with a decommissioned aircraft carrier that was older and the punishment it took was fucking legendary and it still did not sink. They were trying to see what all it would take to sink one. In the end, they had to literally get on board and put explosive charges on certain areas to finally send it to the bottom. They are EXTREMELY difficult to sink-especially the American ones. In yet another ridiculous example, he stated that an American aircraft carrier lost in two separate wargames against Swedish subs. While that is technically true, what that ass hat failed to disclose was that the United States purposefully set all the rules heavily against themselves in an overkill simulation (sort of like playing a video game on a ridiculous setting). They do this all the time with all branches of the military. The thinking is that if you can win when the odds are heavily against you, then you should be incredible in a more balanced real world fight. There were actually another one or two things he said that were so false that I couldn’t believe it but this thing is getting a little long. Anyways, you guys should try to react to more reputable KZbinrs that know what the hell they’re talking about. Like I said, sometimes you guys get really good videos but sometimes it’s like like a 10-year-old making these things. A little bit of research would help you out
