Of the 10 largest stadiums in the world, eight of them are home to U.S. college football schools: Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Louisiana State, Tennessee, Texas and Alabama - all of which have a capacity exceeding 100,000 people. The roots of the game go all the way back to 1869, so much of the passion and grandeur you see in videos like this has been embedded in the American psyche for generations.

I'm Swedish and was totally new to football. My buddy was an Arkansas fan and you talked about LSU and I went to LSU vs Arkansas at LSU in 2007. Tailgating from like 7 in the morning, to an insane game, to an unreal atmosphere and then also saw LSU vs Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. Both were great but the LSU stadium and atmosphere was unreal! Some of the most fun I've ever had even tho my info is dated by 17 years. Still recommend it

The key fact that most people don’t know is that football originated as a college game. Pro football is a good bit younger than the college game so the traditions and pageantry of the college game are more embedded into their fanbases.

It’s honestly one of the best single sporting events you can attend in the ENTIRE WORLD. 100,000 ppl split right down the middle of the stadium on the 50 yard line and both sides HATE each other. Every year it is one of the top 3 loudest games in the world by volume and they actually test it and show the results live during the game so you can see how loud it is. For the Missouri one, they invaded the field because it was a last second winner on a 61 yard field goal. That's an insanely long kick for college football. And the flag was on K State so the kick stood. That kick catapulted Mizzou's season to go on and win the Cotton Bowl.
@Deer86164 ай бұрын

the rankings you see at the beginning of the season are the Associated Press rankings, determined by the men and women who are sports writers for the AP. around a third of the way into the season, the official CFP rankings will be released, and will take over. The AP and coach's polls both become largely irrelevant, at that point. the committee decides the rankings.

I feel like I'm literally the other side of the coin of watching your videos learn and appreciate American Football. I grew up obsessed with American football being from the states. I started traveling to Europe the last few years knowing almost nothing about international football and have absolutely fallen in love with European football too. So it's cool watching you guys gain an appreciation for the sports here and I'm gaining a huge appreciation for The Premier League and somebody the other European leagues.
@brucew70624 ай бұрын
The crowd was so loud when Missouri made the field goal against Kansas State (even though it was only the third game of the season as you said) because Mizzou and K-State are long-time rivals, the field goal was a new SEC record distance, and K-State was ranked 15th so Mizzou got the upset.
@simon20774 ай бұрын
And the year before in Manhattan, K-State totally embarrassed Missouri. Just saying. And if you haven't experienced a FB in Bill Snyder Family Stadium you'd be in f a real treat. The stadium is just over 50,000 yet when USC and Pete Carroll come to town his quote was it was the loudest stadium he had ever been in for it's size.

What's wrong with that? A team doesn't have to be #1 to be a fan of them. That wouldn't be any fun if you just arbitrarily chose a team that won all the time. Too many people choose a team and then jump ship when they have a bad season. It's nice to see someone that isn't bandwagoning for once.

I hope you noticed that the loudest crowd noise occurs mostly when the home team scores. What is great about neutral games with half the fans coming from each team, like the Red River Rivalry, there is very loud crowd noise on every score from both teams. Twice the excitement and twice the amount of roars.

You can basically break up the schedule by months with the exact dates varying slightly. August is preseason training camp. Most of the players have been on campus taking classes - so they can have a lighter academic load during the season, and have been working out, but have had very little contact with the coaches. That changes in august at the beginning of “camp”. It’s the hottest part of summer so temps are easily north of 90F/30C, so it’s tough. September begins the games, but is primarily nonconference games (similar to leagues). Each team gets 3 or 4 noncon games. The big schools tend to play at least one game against smaller schools that should be guaranteed Ws, but also include a guaranteed $$$ that tends to fund the athletic budget of the smaller schools. There are also 1-2 games against schools that might be a little more challenging. There are also usually a few games between elite teams from different conferences. The conference season is basically October and November. Conference championship games are played the very beginning of December. Late December is for bowl games, which are special interconference. Playoffs for a national championship used to be just one game in early January, but that was expanded a few years ago and next year even more with playoff games starting in mid-December. Late Kick with Josh Pate is a great college football specific podcast that gives loads of great info in general but also highlights the biggest games as well. They post videos of the show 2-3 times per week. Highly recommended.

In 1988, LSU stadium filled with near 80,000 fans, caused such a uproarious celebration in the stands when LSU beat the then, #4 team, Auburn, that it registered on a seismograph machine close by. Today, LSU stadium holds over 100,000 fans so, just imagine what it would feel like to be there during a big game for them! And then there’s the tailgating! It’s very entertaining and you’ll get your fill of amazing Cajun food!

Preseason rankings are determined by ALOT of statistics; Last years final rank. Offseason recruiting class. How many starters leave. Next years “strength of schedule (how hard ur opponents are/ranked). Coaching vacancies. Off-season news/discipline And a lot more. Basically every single detail of a colleges football program are analyzed to determine their preseason ranks. That’s why NCAA College Football rankings are usually so accurate even though fans hate them most of the time.

One thing you have to understand about College Football vs NFL, the College game has at least 50 years on the NFL game. They had their own stadiums to the point the NFL and AFL played in local universities stadiums before they had their own. These fan bases and alumni are deeply entrenched through well over a century of rivalries, family tussles and friendships lost due to regional allegiance. Y’all know about this with the Premier League, Champions League, etc.
