Mild compared to the South maybe? Where I live in SE Oklahoma, winter days average 49-51°, with early-mid Dec. actually climbing back up for a bit before dipping down around Christmas, and nights only start to consistently go below freezing in January. Our winters are about 6 weeks, just after Christmas until mid-February, generally. I'm sure Colorado is much worse. Only people from a harsh winter area can be dropped into Colorado and won't complain about the winter.
@A-A-RonDavis24706 ай бұрын
@@TheRockkickasscompared to where? City and rural are very different. When I was a kid about 13-15 yrs ago, I lived lower middle-class/middle-class, and I thought 50k a year was the benchmark in our area for "you got some money", and that truly could've done something for you, amenities and all. Now, 50k is lower middle-class. I'm sure backwoods Co. isn't too bad.

Ouray, Ridgeway, Lake City, fantastic area. Ouray has lots of hot springs and they help the natural stream create ice climbing on a cliff at the south side of town. The million dollar highway, Red Mountain Pass takes you from town to Silverton and Durango. To the east of Ouray and this ranch by jeep trail is Lake City that can be reached by highway from The Black Canyon and Gunnison. From Lake City over Slumgullion Pass are the headwaters of the Rio Grande and Creede. You really should visit. I once stayed at a cabin near Lake City, very near, that was very reasonable. Had a visit from a bear but no one was hurt. We used to do hiking and snowshoeing in this whole area. I've been too old lately but hey, you never know!

I have lived in Montana for about 20 years. The severity of the winters can vary quite a bit from one part of the state to the next. In my opinion, the winters are much colder east of the Rocky Mountains. I live in the Flathead valley, which is on the west side of the mountains, north of Flathead Lake (northwestern corner of the state). The winters here are actually much milder than other parts of the state. But, I guess someone else might not think the winters here are very mild. It all depends on what you are used to. I grew up in southeastern Michigan and would say that the winters in the Flathead Valley are pretty similar.

My son lives in Aurora and works for the Arapaho County Parks Dept. He loves it, btw. Originally from Northcentral PA, he loves telling his Colorado friends and acquaintances that he moved from a place that has 300 cloudy days a year. He's never been happier and fortunately, as "DINK"s, they can live with the high cost of living. They were fortunate to find a very reasonably priced apartment right off as they moved there in 2020, just before quarantine. His wife is a respiratory therapist and she has had to have all the vaccines. Not that it's helped much. They've both had Covid more than once. Due to my health, we've not been able to visit, although it looks as though my husband will be able to go out with my nephew and his wife in their 5th wheel, later in the year. He's always wanted to see Colorado, not to mention seeing where the kids live and play. Our son, who besides working for the county, is a gifted photographer, loves going up to Rocky Mountain National Park, at least a couple of times a month, often just him and his camera. He is slowly wallpapering our house with his photos. He posts them on Facebook as he takes them and when I find ones I especially like, "This one, J, needs to be in my house." And sure enough, at Christmas we get a package from Costco with a gorgeous photo printed on stainless steel. Amazing effects.
