I think it's hilarious when Europeans assume that just because we're all granted the inalienable right to protect ourselves with a firearm, that we must all just be brandishing our weapons, twirling them around, recklessly popping off at random targets, and threatening each other with them all day. Most people with a C&C keep it *gasp* concealed (though you don't necessarily have to by law) and they don't go around talking about their firearm and about carrying it. I have carried my entire adult life and I don't think I've EVER seen anyone display their firearm outside of their home or a shooting range. Carrying, obviously, means accepting a lot of responsibility -- such as prioritizing de-escalation, retreating from dangerous situations, and avoiding ever having to USE it in the first place. It kind of just speaks to me about what THOSE people overseas think THEY would do if they were entrusted with the right to a firearm. Kind of like how religious people always say "well if you don't believe in god, what's to stop you from going on a murder spree?"

Can confirm, I’ve lived in North Carolina, Texas, and California. About half the people I knew carried in NC, most the people I knew in TX, and pretty much no one carried in CA. I always felt safer and more comfortable with the Texans and Carolinians, they won’t shoot you, but they wouldn’t hesitate to use it to protect someone. Over here inSoCal, if the regular Joe carried a gun, I could not say I would be confident in his ability to use it. Always felt less safe out here where you see more gangsters with unlicensed firearms than good people with licensed ones.

The 'slug' is the round. The 'plug' is what goes between the powder and the shell to cause momentum. It would be like loading a cannon -- the powder goes first, followed by something that can 'plug' the cavity and let the later burnt powder build pressure from expansion when lit... Then the ball that is the round (or in this case, slug').

I don’t think a lot of people understand that an ambulance crew are sometimes either not allowed to go to an active scene like that or they can personally refuse to if it’s a threat to THEIR life. I know how that sounds but as far as the rules of EMS goes it states that if the scene is actively unsafe and the medics or EMTs get injured then we can’t help anyone else. In this situation we’d take our ambulance and “stage” a safe distance away. I’m guessing in this situation that’s why the injured officers had to get themselves to the waiting ambulance.
@jimreilly9176 ай бұрын
I’m a former Missouri EMT. OUr training and the service I worked for, forbade us from entering an area/scene if we were aware or suspicious of danger on scene, whether fallen power lines, active fire, gunshots, or a person wielding other weaponry or being assaultive. We were called to a scene that was downgraded to a psych non emergency. I drove by to see a man chasing his parents across a yard with a butcher knife. I kept driving, had dispatch notify PD and staged half mile away. We took him to the hospital in cuffs with PD following after PD cleared us to do so. You cannot treat someone if you’re incapacitated. Or dead.

@@collectgemsosrs6298 I kinda agree. Yes it seems stupid to the average person...but think of those people that are F'd up should never carry anything that could be considered a deadly weapon. My issue is with you feeling guns are a right, not a privilege. I'm honoured that we have the choice if we want to pick up a gun...You think it is a birth-right....and you guys have the audacity to call yourself "English" even when you mean Cymraeg, Scottish and N.Irish...Or even worse...Part of the ROI, yet you don't even know the difference between the UK and Great Britain. 5:44 The "slug" is the bit of metal inside the shotgun shell that comes flying out and does damage to the target, the "plug" (sabot) is a bit of plastic that cups around the slug inside the shotgun shell to keep it straight as it fires down the barrel, the plastic bit comes out after the slug when the shotgun is fired and just sort of flutters through the air and falls. So when this idiot was shooting shotgun slugs into the air, the plastic bits from the shotgun shells were raining down into their yard.

@hiddenloaf23025 ай бұрын
So the difference between a slug and a "plug" is the slug is the actual projectile, it's essentially just a big bullet, the "plug" is likely referring to the wad. A wadding is a piece of plastic used in-between the gunpowder and the projectile to push it down the barrel.

The fact that BOTH cops stick their faces directly in the line of fire STILL boggles my mind. THEN, while both of them were going to get medical none of the other cops helped make sure they had cover or were safe. The protocols in this video are crazy to me. Both cops acted like the whole situation was not serious even though he had a gun. So crazy! **I've seen this video a bunch and I'm VERY glad they are both ok & back to work. Just hope some tactical stuff changed in regards to safety AND the city got another ambulance 💜**

Ah yes, because hiding and letting him move around his neighborhood freely while firing his shotgun is a great idea. Would just give you a reason to complain that they should have acted sooner. The reality is you've never been shot at and acting like you know or would do better than them is laughable. Go back to your video games little boy.

Theres several elements to your questions about shotguns. When they said "plug" they're refering to a piece of plastic that's in front of the propellant and behind the "bullet" or shot. It just pushes the shot out evenly. So when he's shooting into the air it's shooting "bb's" or shot and the plastic piece just falls down onto the ground without risk to anyone and fell into the neighbors yard. The rounds typically used can be slugs, buckshot, or birdshot. This man was shooting birdshot. Birdshot is shot thats between the size of gravel and bb's used primarily for of course birds. Buckshot is the typical lethal shell used that consists of roughly 1cm ball bearing like balls. The slug is a 1oz or .02kg led "bullet".

A slug is a type of round for a shotgun. Its a large, solid projectile that is quite powerful and destructive. Has the potential to go through houses, people.. etc until it hits something solid or rigid.

For the Brits, American here. A .12 Gauge Slug is a solid lead projectile (usually 1 ounce) contained within the shell, many other .12 Gauge rounds have Bird shot or Buck shot, a series of small lead balls for bird or rodent hunting. While the plug is a plastic piece contained in all shells which separates the gun powder from the lead projectiles.

The plug is a part of a shotgun shell that also gets discharged when the shell is fired. A slug, on the other hand, is a shot round style of projectile that acts similar to a standard bullet, as opposed to shot which disperses over an area like a cone, which is where shotguns get their name.

The slug is the metal ball that actually hits the target (shotgun version of a bullet). The shell is the housing for the slug. The plug is a limiter that prevents you from loading over a certain amount of shells. It's usually not illegal to remove it unless you're hunting.
@roysimmsjr.69823 ай бұрын
From slugs, buckshot, and birdshot there is a plastic plug that separates the powder from the projectile(s). This plug will part ways with the projectile after leaving the barrel; it can travel several score yards, or hit the target if the target is close, though it is light weight.

A shot gun slug is the projectile that leaves the muzzle, it’s a large piece of solid lead, the plug/wad is a cup made of plastic that contains the slug and assists in creating a gas seal in the barrel to propel the slug, once in the air the wad/plug breaks away from the projectile and drops to the ground

The slug is the projectile that comes out of the end of the barrel and is a solid piece of metal as opposed to many ball bearings. A plug is meant to limit ammo capacity. When he said plug, he most likely meant wad, which separates the projectile from the gun powder.

A slug is the projectile. It's a one ounce chunk of lead. The "bullet" if you will. A plug is more commonly called the wad. It's the plastic piece that divides the gunpowder from the projectile. It's often cup shaped for the pellets that are often found in shotgun shells. Slug rounds have them also, just behind the slug, rather than wrapping up the sides.
@DaveSlate-q9x5 ай бұрын
The plug pads between the powder and the projectile. In a shotgun, the plug follows the projectile out the barrel and quickly falls to the ground. Its usually plastic cup that cups the projectile for a moment.

A shotgun is versatile as it can use different types of ammunition, depending on the barrel and choke. They can shoot pellets of varying sizes, or slugs, which are a single solid projectile, much like a large bullet. The “plug” he was referring to is actually called a wad. It’s a (typically plastic) cup which the pellets are inside of, which falls away a distance after being fired, and the pellets continuing on their path without it.

Shotguns typically use Shells, which shoot these pallets barrage, a slug is another shot a shotgun can shoot which is a solid chunk of metal that can do some serious damage. But it's a single piece not a barrage like the shells, Bird Shot which is what this was, are like the shells except the pallets are much smaller BBs and more of them, they are usually used to hunt birds, because it sprays the area in a wider arc with a lot more BBs than a typical shell pallet. So although they are less lethal than a regular Shotgun shell or a slug they can still cause serous damage or death if those BBs hit the right spot. Then you have this small metal BB piercing your body. Keep in mind even though they are BBs, It's a lot of BBs being shot at once from a fire arm not from a BB gun so they do have enough force behind them to penetrate the body.

The slug is the bullet a chunk of lead fired by a shotgun. The plug is also called the wad. It sits behind the bullet and prevents the expanding gases from going past the bullet. If gases go by the bullet whats called blow by that gas is lost resulting in an inefficient driving of the bullet out the barrel.
@loganjohnson38665 ай бұрын
the difference between a slug and a plug is a slug is a solid projectile. and i believe a plug is inside the shotgun shell if you have buck/bird shot and it helps keep the pellets together till they exit the barrel. also buck shot has less pellets then bird shot but buck shot has bigger pellets and buck shot is more powerful
