Dispatchers ask a lot of questions to also keep the person on the phone calm and distracted
@strider91844 ай бұрын
I don’t think that’s their first priority: their main goal is get as much information as they can that they relay to the first responders/officers going to the scene so that they know what they are walking into. If the FR’s arrive at the scene with no intel or confusing intel then they will just show up & create more chaos & have no idea what they are doing

Most universities in US don’t have metal detectors, pat downs etc.. they just have a police presence throughout campus
@Sound_Spark27 күн бұрын
I forget which school it was but, there was a school that had metal detectors and certain groups whining about it being racist and such. So it's not surprising that schools don't have them, even though have just metal detectors up alone would probably reduced guns and other weapons from being brought into the school by probably 50%, but sadly schools listen to the 1% more then the 99%.
@Roboto20735 ай бұрын
It would be very hard to put metal detectors in universities. Typically, students don't take classes in just one building throughout the day. Plus, each building would have several enter/exit points.

Hell the college I went to you can carry a shotgun or rifle in your car during deer season, no metal detectors just security on campus.... guns aren't the issue mental health is.

Our freedoms is double-edged. How do you monitor someone's mental health and objectively determine their risk without sacrificing with everyone's rights? Mental health is just "educational" guesses. There's no way to ethically monitor the average citizen before they reach their breaking point.

The guys who loaded the casualty got medals. They were trying ro safe a life and this guy is all worried about the trunk being open.

It's probably a legal/safety issue. The last thing you want is a guy with a gunshot wound, who is weak, maybe passing out and falling out of a moving vehicle

A metal detector will not prevent an attack.. it will just make an elderly person scared when it goes off
@Sound_Spark27 күн бұрын
and yet a metal detector would do just that, having a metal detector would reduce the chance of school violence and no it wouldn't scare an elderly person.

Hey, I know you guys are looking to possibly move to the US. Do a serious search in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Beautiful LARGE lakes, stunning lake homes. CdA is big enough to be big, but still small. Also, Spokane, Washington is 30 minutes away, with major airport, cultural amenities, great restaurants in CdA, and Spokane. Usually a decent amount of winter snow, but not overwhelming. It’s fully forested and beautiful. I heard you thinking about Boise, but in my opinion YUCK. High dry desert, just a big city, and to me no real beauty right there.

Professions where you see horrible things that most people don’t, you form a way of coping with it to keep yourself sane (ex:Nurses, cops, military, firefighters, correctional officers). What those officers said was fairly tame. They weren’t making fun of anyone, saying “this is what I signed up for” is honestly the truth. As a cop, they do have to perform duties such as this. They have to psych themselves up so that they can focus on what actually needs to be done. You expect them to say nothing or start freaking out about how many people they are going to see with horrific injuries/deceased? Be a robot or a basket case?
@LA_HA4 ай бұрын
That officer wasn't just saying that. He was responding to his partner's question, "Are you ready?" But, yes. It's called black or dark humor. I've heard it called blue humor, but blue humor was first referencing humor that was adult in nature (bad language, sexual, etc)
