What's really cool about K.K. is that when they make a fresh batch, their sign lights up letting everyone know. Its' also hard having them packaged from the grocery store when you're used to them fresh from the source. So good!

@@ThrustIssues7 the hot donut sign was my husband's weakness! If we had to go to the VA in Columbia, South Carolina which is 2 hours away, he would see the hot donut sign in the window at Krispy Kreme which was directly across the street from the VA Hospital at the traffic light, and talk me into getting donuts and coffee for the ride home. He usually had to have some medical procedures done, so naturally I gave in... but I should not have since we have diabetes... but they are addictive and so good!!! I have been good though, I haven't had any in many years, the store we have is across town, and I don't go over there often, and that's a goodthing!.

Krispy Kreme’s original glazed donuts are my absolute favorite. I used to live in Chicago, and you could go to the Krispy Kreme store just outside the city proper and get them hot and fresh off the line. Nothing better. I highly recommend a good cup of coffee with them.

The thing to do here in the states when you have an actual Krispy Kreme shop in your town, is to go there when their red sign is lit up. That means they have fresh original glazed donuts right out of the fryer still hot. When you get them still hot, they practically melt in your mouth. Pair that with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa and it's a true special. But next to hot original glazed, my favorites are a lemon filled, or an apple filled with cinnamon dusting, or a Boston Cream.

@@Mrhandfriends yes, they absolutely have different textures. The raised donuts are light and airy (Krispy Kreme and filled donuts like Boston cream) and the others are more cake-like, but not spongy like cake. They are very different recipes/methods.

B - Krispy Kream (Kreme) Other than the original glazed Hot, not a big fan their other donuts. I do love the glazed hot. When I lived in Northern VA, on the weekends, we would make a run at 1 AM just to get the hot donuts...lol If you nuke the leftover donuts for about 10-15 seconds in the microwave, they taste just like they did when they come out of the Krispy Kreme fryer. My favorite donut is a vanilla cream-filled, powder sugared donut from my local Martins Grocery. They are sooooo good when fresh. I also LOVE a good eclair with the vanilla custard.

B. I am happy with just simple plain donut. But if I want something to splurge on, raspberry jelly donut. Then to splurge on calories and on the greasiness, the apple fritter when the outside is crispy. There is a donut shop in CA, mom and pop place, when strawberry are in season, the cut the strawberries in larger size pieces, put it in a glaze (looks like a fresh strawberry pie, mile high pie filling). Then a large donut cut in half but not all the way. Put a generous portion of the fresh strawberry mixture and whipped cream. It looks like a hot dog or race presentation. One day I would like to try it.

Next time you bake an Apple Pie, take a piece and put melted cheddar cheese on top. It's great. It's pronounced crispy creme. You can put regular (with out toppins) Donuts in the micro wave for 30 seconds and it is much better
