I worked at Wendy's in the late 80s. The food was a bit better, and there was a salad bar. The beef not only not frozen, but was then formed into patties in house. Also, the chicken breast was pounded and breaded fresh in house and put in a pressure fryer. We employees ate well and had a lot of fun. And yes, I've been dipping the fries since then.

Wendy's also has a Great Chili. It's abit sweet and goes great with Wendy's fries... Very mild so even the little one can try it! Originally, Wendy's Frosty only came in Chocolate.

You know what’s crazy? In the late 1980s Wendy’s started having all-you-can-eat pasta and salad bars. I downed a lot of cheap carbs at those places. That’s long gone but to this day Wendy’s has good salads, one of my favorite spots when on a road trip since I avoid wheat these days.

Interesting. I was born in the 80s, and we didn't eat out much. I don't remember that, but my parents preferred Wendy's, so we did eat there on occasion. I'm not crazy about Wendy's burgers, but I love Wendy's Spicy chicken "sandwich". Wendy's fries are trash also. Calling a chicken sandwich a burger is weird to me. We call hamburgers, burgers because it's made of Hamburger.

Of course, what Wendy's is most known for is its delicious chili, so popular it's about to start appearing in supermarkets. But the second-best thing Wendy's has to offer after their chili is Dave's Triple cheeseburger (with bacon, naturally), so fresh! I think their fries are okay but I prefer their baked potatoes topped with the classics of butter, sour cream, and chives. I've never in my entire life before heard of dipping fries in a Frosty. I'm glad you loved it.

When Wendy's came out it was an upgrade from Burger king and McD's. The fact that it wasn't a frozen patty made a difference and the frosty was different. Haven't eaten at McD's since August 1975 when I bit into a big mac and hit a bone; my tooth broke. McD's staff said I couldn't prove it was McD's fault. I told them I'd never eat at McD's again. So I haven't all this time. I'm reminded every time I have to have the crown replaced.

I once picked up a quarter pounder at the McD’s drive-thru. Got home, opened it up - and there was a perfect big semi-circular bite taken out of it. I was so pissed I zoomed back, stomped in, yelled at the manager and made her give me my money back.

They are also the ones who made a laughing stock out of the grandma who when she tried to put sugar in her coffee spilled it down her thighs and got third degree burns. The lady just wanted to keep someone like a child from getting burned at first. When McD's doubled down and wouldn't do anything she then took them to court- thanks to that she was known as the woman who sued over coffee. They had no shame because she won and it hurt their bottom dollar!

Wendy’s is my favorite fast food burger joint. I even like it more than In-N-Out. Their patties are always so beefy and juicy, and they’re always open later than most places. I also appreciate their density in the U.S. rivals that of McDonald’s so I’m always close to one wherever I travel. For the price and for the quality of the food, it’s literally the best value burger in the business. And their loyalty app isn’t bad either. I get free or heavily discounted food all the time. Plus a redhead for a logo is a winner in my book. Lol

My first job besides babysitting was in 1974 at a brand new Wendy's. I had never even heard of it. We had the single, double and tripple burgers, chili, fries and chocolate frosty's. All the chicken, salads, baked potatoes etc.. came long after I was gone. I really like their chicken apple salad and strawberry lemonade. The fries are better now too.

The first time I ate at Wendy's was just a few years later. 16 August 1977. We day-tripped to visit family over in Bellefontaine (Ohio) and were told that one of my cousins was working the drive-thru window over at Wendy's, so we bopped over to surprise her and say howdy. After pulling away from the window, my brother and sister started playing around with a ketchup packet and ended up popping it open and the contents landed in my lap -- on my white Wrangler jeans! By the time we got home, the big news everywhere was about Elvis Presley.

I'm from Virginia and I have never once seen or heard anyone putting fries in a frosty. Wendy's is a shell of what it once was. Back in the 80s the burgers were so greasy they would drop on the table. So good times.

My ideal meal at Wendy's consists of: 2x Jr. Bacon Cheese burger (ordered with tomatoes but eaten without, I take them out and eat them separately) 1x Medium Fries 1x Small Chocolate Frosty (Optionally) 1x 6 piece Nugget( regular, no sauce) 1x All Natural Lemonade Set up: After eating the tomatoes from the sandwiches, I place two layers of fries where the tomatoes used to be and reassemble the sandwich. I flip the bottom onto the top for this, it keeps the sandwich intact. The warm fries and cold frosty provide a salty/sweet hot/cold experience, so that's where I start. Instead of dipping, I use a spoon to scoop up some frosty and place some on a single fry and has been folded in half for structural integrity. Hold the two ends together and place some frosty onto the bend portion. I continue until there are no more fries left. I'll enjoy the occasional bite of nugget if I order any while enjoying my stacked sandwiches that wouldn't feel as satisfying had I not layered the fries inside. If I get a drink, it would be the all natural lemonade to wash everything down. I also enjoy the Big Bacon Classic in either a single or a double if I'm feeling extra hungry. The Big Bacon Classic had been mentioned in a movie and was actually one of my absolute favorite sandwiches in high school before Wendy's decided to discontinue the sale of the Big Bacon Classic. They brought the sandwich back. Please try it.

I worked at Wendy's in the late '90s/early 2000s when they only had chocolate frosties, and man, we loved to get a cookie (they sold these big, soft chocolate chip cookies then, put it in a bowl, heat it up a little and put some frosty on it. Also, making a Dr. Pepper float with the chocolate frosty worked better than you would think. I was skeptical, but a coworker convinced me to try it and it really was good.

The original Wendy's frosty is the chocolate version which is actually a blend of chocolate and vanilla which is why it has less of a bang of chocolate to it than a purely chocolate shake would have.

The chocolate Frosty, while tasty for what it is, never had enough chocolate flavor for me to consider it truly chocolate. The strawberry Frosty is terrific for somebody like me that retains enough of my childhood to still enjoy Strawberry Nesquik in milk. Once in a while. But that vanilla Frosty tastes so much like what I've had in the past that resulted from attempts to make home-made ice cream -- it's the best Frosty, to my particular taste.

Good on you for trying a triple I guess. LOL When I'm hungry a double usually does it for me. I totally get what you're saying about Wendy's burgers vs McDonalds. We have 42 McDonald's in the metro area in which I live, but also 24 Wendy's so they're not too hard to find. I first encountered them in the late 1970s. There is really a big difference. Of course there's a difference in price as well. IDK about the dipping of the fries in shakes. I've never tried it so I won't knock it, it just seems a bit weird. I do love Wendy's frosties. I want to try their strawberry version which is a limited edition for this summer.

I have two stories about Wendy's from my childhood. 1) I had reached my growth spurt at an early age that a basic kid's meal wasn't enough.
