Very useful, thanks. Santander looks quite straightforward if a little chaotic.
@MikeandTinasTravels2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yes it does look a little chaotic, but really, just follow everyone else leaving a decent gap incase you get directed into a different lane.

Nice little review. We are doing Portsmouth - Bilao on Galicia in August with our 4 year old so good to see whats on board (we are traveling back via Santander on Santona). They look smaller than the Stena Lina ships that do Harwich - Hook of Holland (I did a review last year), but the food prices are certainly a lot cheaper!
@MikeandTinasTravels Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Glad it was helpful for you. Can't comment on Stena Line ships, it's been quite a few years since we did that route.

Which way did you come in from? Don’t look busy on that route that you did. Thank you

We went to Carrefour for fuel and shopping before heading to the port, following sat nav' directions. Think it was this one. CARREFOUR +34 646 61 73 47 maps.app.goo.gl/oK6T2rm9wzX3jYv19

We sail the Portsmouth to Saint Malo and return sailings from Caen. We usually stay in the Charente-Maritime and the Dordogne, lovely part's of France. We're are all going again this year all booked just counting down the day's. Never sailed to Spain but thinking about it for 2023 already LOL.

Enjoy your holiday. We are heading back to Spain in a few weeks, trying to decide whether to do Dieppe or St Malo, taking a few days extra to tour down, or pay the extra to Santander and get there quicker.
@andrewthomas62142 жыл бұрын
@@MikeandTinasTravels I would go St Malo you'er off the ship about 08.30ish, Dinan only 40 mins outside of St Malo well worth a visit also Saintes with its Roman Amphitheatre 4hrs. We've driven down to Gruissan on the Med and took two overnight stops so we could explore you could probably do the same for north or south of Spain. Anyway have a loverly time.

Before the kiosk, how do you know if you are queuing for Portsmouth or Plymouth?
@MikeandTinasTravels Жыл бұрын
I don't think they are there at the same time, certainly only the Portsmouth one there when we arrived.

We sailed on the Galicia in Feb and April and got to say we were not impressed with this ‘new’ ship. Rust everywhere, commodore cabins poor quality as was the food and on way home broke down for 7 hours in Santander. Not a patch on the Pont Aven where the cabins and food were excellent.
@MikeandTinasTravels2 жыл бұрын
Heading to UK our food was great, coming back to Spain not so good. Don't remember seeing rust & can't comment on commodore cabins but our normal one was OK. Brother in law had problems on it when he sailed back to UK, the loading ramp was jammed for an hour plus.

Thanks for a great video. Looks like you had a wonderful crossing. How long is the crossing?

From memory I believe it's a tad over 30 hours crossing.

Hello - what was the journey like from Palomares to Santander and how long dud it take?
@MikeandTinasTravels2 жыл бұрын
Really good and quiet roads ( NO tolls) virtually all dual carriageway. To Burgos, where we stayed overnight at a hotel took roughly 9 & a quarter hours but did have a walk round an old castellated town for 45 minutes plus. Tardajos where our hotel was to Santander at a guess was between 2 & a half to 3 hours really easy driving. The last bit almost alpine looking.

I should mention I could have driven 20 kph faster but chose not to.
