I always found it weird that Riley became studio head first, because in season 2 it was said Emily was 16, so even if each season is a year and Riley was only a year younger than Emily, she can only have been a max of 17. Who the hell puts a 17 year old in charge of running an entire competitive dance studio?! Especially after they’ve just won Internationals so their reputation is supposed to stay strong, like please😭

To think that The Next Step has been around for over a decade is absolutely crazy. I feel as if it's getting to a point where you can really see the impact it's had on people's development. For instance, I started watching TNS when it first aired when I was 6 and I'll be turning 17 in a week. At that time I was being bullied at school and seeing a bully's perspective, such as Emily's in the media I consumed, helped me to gain empathy for the people who were mean to me. I was wondering, do you have any interesting experiences fans have shared of how TNS has impacted them?

Great video, I loved it! However, I personally prefer reaction videos where we see your genuine live reaction of the scenes rather than a review where you look back at what you've watched. I have a question about tns. When James had to compete the list to ‘win’ back Riley there was one number that he couldn’t do. I think I was number 7. It was always joked about how difficult it was to do. What actually was that number?

19:07-19:20 - I completely agree about Jiley being toxic. As much as I loved them when I was younger, you really start to notice how unfit they were for each other when you’re older. And funnily enough, it was indeed because of both long distance and cheating on each other as you said😅 20:35 - I also thought that dream sequence with Alfie and Riley was cute. That’s a good parallel you made comparing that scene with Richelle dreaming of her dancing with Shad. He’s such a good singer. He has a very beautiful voice.

15:08 This being older for the troupe thing is slightly touched on in season 6 with Noah, I guess it's one of the few times they've applied that rule to some degree in the show (season 6 is such a great season btw if you ever want to react to it, probably one of the best seasons of the show)

I loved Jiley as a kid but think now as I’ve grown up and rewatched the show I’ve realised how toxic it was and how a healthy relationship shouldn’t look like that. I think the reason Jiley was so loved by the fans was down to the on-screen chemistry Brit and Trevor had and probably the age-old will they won’t they trope that everyone seems to loves in tv series.

i didn’t care what i looked like in dance until i was 16, and this ballet teacher was SO JUDGEMENTAL - literally the first thing she said to me and 3 other girls was “you’d look so much prettier with makeup on” and after that i literally wore makeup everywhere because i felt so insecure about it, which doubled up with the people on social media having fabulous makeup and me barely knowing how to apply bronzer made me so stressed out (glad to report 7 years later i’m not wearing makeup very often and have learned it absolutely doesn’t matter)

I'd love to hear more about acting! Not an actor myself but I've done a couple of plays here and there and I find it fascinating! i am 17 and social media is actually the worst (yes i am still on it way too much), it made so many things in my life worse and things to do with my mental health and mental illness that i’ve struggled with just got worse after looking at triggering things on tik tok or twitter. Because i had social media from like 10 years old my mental health just declined from when i was around 11/12 and i’ve struggled with it ever since. I’m not gonna say that the only reason for my problems is social media but i know it played a huge role in it. and also in dance i have massive self esteem issues with thinking i’m not a good enough dancer after watching other dancers in social media

You're definitely not alone in feeling that way. I didn't have social media and I also struggled a lot with self esteem issues. I sometimes still do today, though it's much easier to work through as I've gotten older.

My QUESTION: I remember in your reaction videos to Season 1; you said you were extremely insecure about what other people thought about you (as any teenager is). I've always felt like when it comes to acting, you needed someone else to tell you if you're doing an okay job or not, except in your mind (or at least for me) I could never fully trust or believe what other people say. I would love to hear your thoughts on the Riley James and Alfie drama from season 4 and Alfie’s character on the show as a whole?
