Two lessons/rules: 1) Don't visit autocrat countries well known for human rights violations. 2) If you choose to disregard rule #1, then you had better make sure you don't break any laws of that country. Check and double check your luggage for any illegal contraband BEFORE entering that country.

Even if you don't break the laws in Russia as you are American or European you will get arrested and put in prison. Brittney was innocent but just for an exchange ride she was arrested. The Americans should do the same with Russian representatives going to the USA, but USA is a democratic country and don't do that! No where does it say that the Russian government has to treat a USA criminal in their court system any different than their own. When an American who decides that they don't have to go by the laws of the people and regime that are paying you.
