I've just stumbled across this and what a joy to see how much the humour carries across the pond. - "people carrier" is a minivan - "proper subtle" means very subtle but he's saying it sarcastically because he did nothing subtle! - "Terry Nutkins" is a UK television star from the 1980s who had a very patchy mullet. - "brew" is a cup of tea - the second look behind him after "Mr Kay" because of the cross-eyed is such a wonderful addition - "maestro" and "switch" were like visa and mastercard for instant payments. This guy is comedy gold. The whole of that show is top tier. But any of his sitcoms would have you in stitches too. Thank you for cheering me up!

I’ve seen these clips before but they had subtitles so you could at least understand what he’s saying! His accent is from around Manchester (op north) as we Southerners would say. Peter is from an area near to Manchester, called Bolton.

Some Brits refer to a cup of tea as a "Brew". A people carrier is the Mum type car that we see in American movies...side sliding door/+3 or 4 rows of seats etc. Hope that helps a little?

Love you Britt for trying, but as you said, Peter has a very broad accent, quick fire delivery and his cultural references will baffle the majority of Americans. I'm from the north too and Peter's county borders mine ,so it's not dissimilar to my accent, but even those from other regions of the UK might struggle a little to understand us sometimes.

Peter is VERY northern, as am I but not as Broad Lancashire as him.... a Brew is a beaker of tea, not a cup we don't use cup's up here 1/2 pint is the standard volume of a Brew.....

SUV :) Anything 'proper' means 'well and truly', brew (cup of tea) it's an English religion! Maestro - credit card. You'd struggle in the UK, the accents change COMPLETELY every 20 miles. There's a bit not far north of London where the accent is English 'posh' - and the further north you get the broader the accent gets. I'm an ex-teacher and never thought I had an accent - till I videoed a lesson and wondered 'who's the fat, bald bloke with a Brummie (Birmingham) accent. It was me.
