The whole song is about the VIDEO. You need the actual visuals to get the full effect and humor. I can't believe anyone would suggest the live version. Joe is a great country artist though - and I would recommend Brokenheartsville next.

I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio I actually had a thought that made me laugh. And that thought was that he wasn't talking about the woman we think. I didn't know about the music video at the time it was just a funny thought that ran through my mind. Because that would be the perfect twist. I half expected it to be in the song... Like the lyrics telling us who it really is. This song and Gimme That Girl are about the only 2 I know from this guy. I love them both. Edit: "Broken Heartsville" is another I love.

Hilarious song - Joe Nichols has a lot of fun songs, and a great deep country voice. Sort of like the mulleted version of Cody Johnson. Also, I had a friend who wound up topless on top of a police station in Daytona Beach after she drank Patron. It is funny to realize he was singing about his grandma.

My take on this song after hearing it many times: She's cheating on him, and he knows it, but he's choosing to believe her "tequila" explanation because he's in denial. The other drinks she "can handle"? Champagne brunch: It's late morning/early afternoon, and he's probably with her. Bridal shower with Bacardi punch: No men around. Jello shooters full of Smirnoff: Probably what she drinks when, again, she's out with him. But the tequila? That's when she goes out in the evening with her "girlfriends". And her girlfriends back up her story. She's not losing her stuff in the locations he mentions, she's forgetting it at some dude's house.

From personal experience on more than a few occasions, Tequila does have that side effect. However, Patron is just a well-marketed lower-end Tequila. For the same price in a bar go for 1800, if in a liqueur store Corralejo Reposado or Espolon Reposda. Far superior for the same amount of money, just no TV commercials for it.

Kathy here - And yes, I don't drink tequila anymore! LOL Back in 1984, my daughter was 9 months old, and me and my husband had not left her with a sitter at that point, so we went to a pool party at one of his co-workers' homes, and we went through so much Teguila that night! Let's just say, it turned into a REAL adult party and us girls had to collect our clothes from off the pool fence! LOL Needless to say, to this day, I don't drink Tequila anymore! LOL Thanks for the reaction. I love your channel!

As you were at the beginning of the song I thought it just a tad hypocritical of you tell others not to be judge during the final third of the song. lol To me this has always felt like a torrent husband who knew his wife well, and her sometimes wicked friends who knew they shouldn't be taking her out for this drink but had to much fun doing. Tell me you have never lost the back of an earing while you were out. She lost the earing in her drink because her server brought her a new one before she realized the back and now the stud was gone.
