@@keymack2477 The Beatles had tons of number ones before Three Dog Night emerged, going back to "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You" in 1963. And I'd forgotten about "Something." Harrison's beautiful song was paired with John's "Come Together" as a double-A side, and it did reach No. 1.

They aren't brothers, but they sound good! The 3 singers are Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuck Negron, who took the lead here. For other TDN tunes, I'd recommend "Liar," "Out in the Country," and their cover of "Try A Little Tenderness." Prejudice perhaps, but those are my favorites of theirs. Oh, and "Black and White" is also a good one.

One of the things that always fascinated me about this song was how the band took Harry Nilsson's original, dirge-like version and transformed it into an incredibly catchy rocker that makes you want to leap to your feet and dance while you sing along. My other favorite of theirs is their cover of Laura Nyro's "Eli's Coming," which matches "One" in it's energy, ear-catching appeal and danceability. And, no, the three lead singers are not brothers.

The three vocalists of Three Dog Night were not brothers. Chuck Negron (the lead singer on One), Corey Wells and Danny Hutton formed together as the vocal group Redwood and did some preliminary recording with Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. When that fell through the three singers brought in the musicians Floyd Sneed (drums), Joe Schermie (bass), Michael Allsup (guitar) and Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards) and renamed themselves Three Dog Night. One was a top 10 hit in 1968 and helped propel the band to stardom. Three Dog Night was all over the radio from 1968 to 1974 with many top 40 hits. An interesting fact is that each lead singer managed to score a number one hit. Danny Hutton sang the lead on Black And White, Corey Wells sang the lead on Mama Told Me Not To Come, and Chuck Negron sang the lead on Joy To The World. All three hit the top of the top 40.
