Three Dog Night is a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One" (written by Harry Nilsson), "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.

One of the BIGGEST bands of the 1970's, but no where to be seen these days. Many hits, many fans, many crazy stories about their life on the road. Other great songs, "One", "Black and White", "Joy To The World", "Celebrate" and "Fire Eater", an instrumental.

Part of the reason why their not around is 2 of the 3 vocalists are dead. Cory was first, Chuck died a few years ago, I believe Danny is still around. Yes they were everywhere back in the seventies.

They took their name from native Australia saying. The colder the night the more dogs you would need to sleep with you to stay warm. A 3 dog night was a pretty cold night. That's the story I heard. The band had monster hits in the late 60s and early 70s. Suggest you check out BRICKYARD BLUES and BLACK & WHITE.

Love Three Dog Night. My personal favorites of theirs are Pieces of April and Family of Man, but they had tons of hits - One, Joy to the World, Shambala, Easy to be Hard, Black and White, Liar, Never been to Spain, etc. The list is enormous. They took their name from Eskimos who sleep with their dogs for heat. A three dog night is an especially bitter cold night.

My first date was when I was 15 years old and we went to see Three Dog Night. I wore bleached denim bellbottoms and a matching fringed vest over a white shirt. 1970. While Elvis was doing his wild thing in Vegas. We didn't know what he was like in Vegas because we only had the radio and newspapers, 4 tv channels. Good times back then! Still discovering ❤

This was is a song by American singer-songwriter Randy Newman written for Eric Burdon's first solo album in 1966. Three Dog Night's 1970 cover topped the US pop singles chart. Tom Jones and Stereophonics' version also reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart in 2000. Randy Newman also recorded “I Love L.A.”, “Short People”, and many other great quirky songs.

I highly recommend listening to "One" by TDN. That's another earworm. For several years, I had a friend who was a woman about 15 years older than me, and we used to go to concerts together. Patti was always ready to check out new music! It turns out, she used to go on tour with Three Dog Night because she was dating the bassist (back in 'the day')!

This was a fun song written by Randy Newman of later fame for Toy Story movie songs and many other movies. He had 22 oscar nominations 2 wins and 23 grammy nominations with 7 wins. He wrote the song about his first experiences of the party scene when he moved to los angeles in the sixties. Also a fun thing if you want to look it up. There's a hilarious version of the song by the jackson 5 just funny hearing a 13 year old Michael Jackson talking about whisky in your water.
