@@christhornycroft3686 I also like Stevie Nicks. Joan Jett is the poor man’s version of Pat. My other favorite female vocalist is Janis Joplin. Honorable mentions go to Ann Wilson & Linda Rondstadt. For old school female vocalists I love Judy Garland. Barbra is amazing but not my cup of tea.

@@christhornycroft3686 Chrissie Hynde and Stevie Nicks you just cannot compare, cause they are a different genre. And how long did Joan Jett's career last, I wonder? You can like them better, but don't diss an absolute rock icon.

Pat was a trained opera singer. The first concert I ever attended without any supervision was on 2/18/83 on her Get Nervous Tour. As great as a singer she is, her drummer Myron Grombacher stole the show.

As someone stated you should listen to the song called hell is for children. It’s actually a rock song about child abuse. You wouldn’t believe those two things could go together but they made it work. A subject no one would touch but she got an important message out. Also you’re quite right she is incredibly talented. Excellent singer, no laser lights, explosions, or 50 background dancers. Just a 10 foot tall voice from a 5 foot tall woman.

Most people don't know that Pat's version of this song was the 3rd one, largely taken from Rachel Sweet's version, with some modified lyrics. Rachel's version is outstanding as well. The original was done by Helen Schneider and the core melody is there but the lyrics and tone of the song is quite different. The music video is also very weird and shot live on a stage for German TV at the time.
@GeraldTrainer-q7jАй бұрын
Yup. And DL Byron gave her a demo with lyrics written by Rachel Sweet. But he didn’t tell her about Rachel Sweet’s changes, so she released the song without crediting Rachel Sweet. So, even though Neil Giraldo’s lyrics are the iconic version of the song, Rachel Sweet gets a cut.
