As a lifelong Prince devotee😁…you simply cannot compare the two…it’s impossible…they are both unique to their crafts. To continue to pit them against one another is doing a disservice and injustice to #realmusicians #realmusic #icons
@ScottLaVine-br8wt11 ай бұрын
@@evarene07 you're correct , that's why I don't compare them. Prince was / is a one man force that developed and controlled ALL he created. MJ was a Pop singer that was legendary but needed massive help to create his music. Prince's music didn't even need lyrics , his instruments spoke clearly and fluid. MJ made FOUR albums in the eighties , Prince produced a minimum of 3 albums a year every year in the eighties and beyond.

Love this clip and so happy that you are reacting to it. It wasn't how it was recorded but the recorded released version is also pretty sexy, and you are right, each live performance was not the same. With all of these routine artists today with the same rehearsed song selections, Prince always changed things up and improvised. There is another song mixed in here along with Falling(Alycia Keys), its a classic called The One. The woman singing in this was his saxaphonist, Candy Dulfer. There will never be another! Love you sister and thanks for the react!
@tmelendezmia10 ай бұрын
Side note; Candy Dulfer was already an accomplished Jazz musician and Saxonist with three Gold Albums and one big hit, "Lily Was Here", before joining the NPG for the Musicology Tour circa 2004, and other appearances post that tour.

Michael Phillips, New Power Generation sax player, said this about Prince in a 2004 Rolling Stone article: “Every night I watch how he connects his gift to the crowd. I’ve spoken to him about it. He told me that playing a solo is like making love. You have to pay attention to the things that make your partner respond-and space them out so they come at exactly the right time. It’s one big, long orgasm."

LOL !! You are so adorable!! Yes, Prince had a knack for playing some of his songs on extended mode during the concerts, and worst, during the after parties! And yes, pretty much things were fluid with him, and his band had to keep up with the changes. Also, in a lot of those of those extended songs, he would mash up some covers; I saw him interlude songs from Destiny Childs, James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, George Clinton, Commodores, Earth Wind and Fire, etc. Heck, I even saw either a Michael Jakcson or Jacksons Five mash up, but he didnt sing it, the background vocals people did! :D I believe this video was extracted from the Musicology Concert, which I think you can find in KZbin.

Love the reaction. Prince is generational, if not a one-time thing. If you're up for it you've gotta get glimpses of his masterpiece Purple Rain personally I think his live rendition at the AMAS is the best version. If you wish for a younger prince "I wanna be your lover" is an a go to. Wanna party? "Raspberry Beret" or "1999" is a good choice. Feeling freaky? "Darling Nikki" maybe even "Little Red Corvette". Need the extra loving? "Adore" perhaps "Love 2 the 9's". I could go on and on. Do as u please, everything's worth a shot in my opinion.

Well actually, Alicia Keys “Fallen” is her original written piece, but the music is from James Brown’s classic “This Is A Man’s World”. Alicia Keys actually covered one of Prince’s classics “Why Don’t You Call Me Anymore”, on her first album. So, I guess that’s why prince did a little bit of her song at this particular show. They were really good friends.
