This was his last performance before quitting for 5 years due to on-stage panic attacks. Then just when he was ready to try to start performing again, Covid hit. I love that this song can basically be used as a Litmus test. If you have symphtomatic metal health issues you just stare and go Oh my dear lord. If you don't, then you just keep vibing as soon as he starts back up. Saw reactions with both end results. I myself fell into cathegory 1.

I never said understanding anywhere, since I meant that as you actually listening to the song and not just having it as a background task, since Bo is famous for having multiple meanings hidden in the song. And look at the crowd's reaction as well: "Whooooo" as soon as he goes back at it. They are just vibing despite the nuke he just dropped. Don't tell me most of the theatre that paid for it wasn't understanding it at all. And it's not even a care about it or not, since my friend who's mental health is excelent went right back to vibing as well, and as soon as the song was over he asked: "Btw, shouldn't we send some well wishes to the dude?"

@@bstnk I agree with you. I’m an autistic writer who listens to a songs lyrics predominantly over the music. I have friends with ADHD who’ll listen to songs sonically, and they’ll miss lyrics a lot of the time. I used to think reactions to this song were a good way of telling if people had trauma or were neurodivergent but now I just think it’s a good way of telling if people listen to music lyrically or sonically. I think it’s reductive to assume people are neurotypical just because they missed a lyric.

Agreeing with the rest of the comments. It's always nice to see someone appreciating just how much work goes into his performance, but it feels a little empty if you're not also talking about the content of the lyrics when he gets 'serious'. Kind of exactly proves Bo's point about how he can say anything if he makes it pretty, makes it rhyme. You'll get the context when/if you react to more of his "Inside" content. Looking forward to more Bo on this channel.

This song utterly breaks my heart EVERY SINGLE TIME. The lyrics are intense and the juxtaposition of all the stage production, it's just incredibly gut-wrenching. "As he attempts to give you what he CANNOT give himself" and "a part of me NEEDS you, a part of me fears you" I mean, come on! And it *is* a bop, that's why it lands so heavy. It's pain, anxiety, self-deprecation, theatre and 'pop music' all in one. Totally disarming combination.

At face value his 'problems' are funny, but then when you think of his problems as analogies for real problems he was facing: can't reach the pringles in the bottom of the can = I can never reach happiness, I want to have a daughter to finally help me reach happiness... chipotle burrito spilling out everywhere = fame, I would have never chased fame and notoriety if I knew it came with everything that it comes with... "I wouldn't have gotten half this sh*t if I knew it wouldn't fit"... And then he ends with a moment of honesty with the crowd, but acknowledges that he's a comedian and that he can't actually share his problems with them and if he just "makes it funny, makes it rhyme" it doesn't matter what he says, they will all laugh anyways. I saw this show live, and I remember in the moment thinking "I don't think we are supposed to be laughing at this?" and the crowd was... come to find out it literally was Bo saying he's not ok

One reactor caught on that the "can't handle this" is a really clever double. CAN't HANDle this... a call back to his rant on his hand being two large for Pringles cans. Or, more likely, the pringles can bit was deisgned to set up the can't handle this refrain. Pretty damn clever.

Beat me to it. While Britt does a great job of describing how Bo recreates Kanye's style (for which, not being a Kanye fan, I'll have to take her word but interesting nonetheless), like a lot of other reactors I've seen and seemingly a large part of the audience that night the abrupt tonal shift in the second half of this song gets missed . Bo is describing his own mental anguish in a deeply moving, heartfelt way, and even sardonically predicts people will fail to understand his message when he says "You can tell them anything/If you just make it funny, make it rhyme." "All Eyes on Me," where he describes his years-long battle with panic attacks, would be a good follow-up to this song.

I have been in tears hearing this song more often then not. I don't know that I ever took it as needing unhealth to get it, but more empathy than narcissism. Is this song a presentation made for the audience or a personal message being put out to the world? Just like the words, the truth is it is both. I've always found the last line to be the most genius. "I hope you're happy". I think he genuinely wants to bring Happiness to people, but it's also perfectly passive aggressive.

The chipotle burrito isn’t just a funny verse for this song, it’s also a metaphor for his fame and success and how it’s not what he expected and how it has affected him in ways he never would’ve thought, especially regarding mental health. And how he feels like things are just a mess. “Wouldn’t have got half of it if I knew it wasn’t going to fit” demonstrates the pain/anxiety he bears as a performer… “a part of me loves you, a part of me hates you, a part of me needs you, part of me fears you”. Speaking of his own insecurity and need to perform but also feeling like he’s just being a caricature of himself. He bears his real problems on stage but then everyone breaks into applause when he says “ I should probably just shut up and do my job…” which I imagine could feel like, “just entertain us, we don’t wanna hear it”… and Bo recognizes that but I bet it could feel bad when you’re someone like Bo who thinks and feels very deeply. Everything is layered with him. He’s a genius in the truest sense and often that comes with a felt sense of reality that is different than most people and comes with carrying a lot of weight.

@@thebulky1 I heard that too, but Bo has a way of downplaying his talent and misleading his audience (in a good way). It absolutely could be a complete coincidence he used two perfect metaphors in his song about life being too overwhelming. I think you missed the point on this. The audience's lack of reaction was due to they had just witnessed a man spilling his soul out (and having a panic attack) on the stage. He didn't perform live for 5 yrs after this.

I always find it crazy that this man bared his soul literally telling everyone that his mental health is decking and that he’s in a constant battle between being the entertainer but being true to himself all the while struggling internally and the crowd just applaud like, “wow that’s so entertaining!” Feel the reaction here was similar, missing the point or the gravity of what he’s saying and instead bopping along to the catchiness of the track as he ploughs through the deepest part, at one point literally screaming in anguish. When I watched it for the first time I got goosebumps and felt like reaching through the screen to give him a hug

Definitely appreciate the fullness of the production, but listen again when you get the chance to appreciate the fullness of what he's actually saying! Bo has a way of making you laugh and bop and then wrap it up in a haymaker that almost makes you feel guilty for enjoying it so much. Which is pretty masterful to me. Love your videos! ♥️

pringles can represents the small "opening" that a person has reach or given goal, desire, or idealized self/situation; not being able to reach what you want. the burrito is about trying to do to much or fit to much into your life, "trying to have it all", only to see it all fall apart.

I think you were too focused on the Kanye impersonation (which is PERFECT ngl) to notice the more subtle layers of the song. But, for me the Kanye hint is not only for the auto tune, lighting etc but also a nod to his struggle with mental health. I think Bo admires Kanye a lot, but also relates to his mental health problems a lot.

the chipotle burrito is a metaphor for the fame he has and everything that comes with it. he wouldnt have done it all if he knew that it would be such a detriment to his mental health. he is overwhelmed and breaking down. i can feel the pain when he shouts toward the end. Im so thankful he is doing better nowadays!. love your reactions!!

Not so fun fact, during the end portion this song he was having a severe panic attack. You can see his hand shaking like a leaf while holding the mic, and thats why that last yell sounded so much more raw the the others and why he left so fast. After this performance he stopped his tour and went on his 5 year break before Inside

Ingenuity and sadness in a single song. The latter part was a cry for help, including the intermittent screams of anguish at his situation. The irony of being a performer who wanted to make other people laugh, but was not happy himself, stuck in a situation where the trepidation of performing led to onstage panic attacks, with the audience not caring about his mental health as long as they had a good night out. He is a genius, and like a lot of people with an exceptionally high intellect, suffers from depression and other mental issues. Literally the sad clown trope, without the makeup.

This was Bo's last tour/comedy performance for about 5 years. He was suffering panic attacks on stage, perhaps even in this very clip, that I'm not sure on. People have argued that even the burrito bit has a double meaning "wouldn't have gotten half this shit if I knew it wouldn't fit in the burrito" contrasting with him shooting to stardom so fast, and perhaps he wouldn't have done it if he had known? Not sure about that, but I do know this was Bo's way of telling the world he is NOT okay. It's heartbreaking in a way.
