I'm an atheist who was raised in a very religious sect and I always thought that being Christian was about our individual relationship with god. Growing up I looked into physics chemistry and mathematics and saw everything seems so logical and consistent. There was no room for anything supernatural. Overtime my mental health collapsed and being autistic I started investigating. I started looking into psychology, sociology and epistemology. I learned of various fallacies that human brains cause us to fall into and learned how religion likes to take advantage of those. I looked into biology and learned that evolution makes sense especially when you look at the details. Looked into comparative religion studies and compared to history and anthropology which showed how religions changed and mutated, shaped by human actions in history. In the end no theology made sense to me. It was all myths and monsters. Seeing how history and ancient humans shaped religion is fascinating. I have no reason to believe that any god ever existed. It all seems to be man made and the relationship i had with god was easily explained through our fallacious minds and how evolution shaped our existence. The only world view that was consistent with every field of study I ever looked into was atheist. I'm not mad at god or any of that nonsense. We are a social species, not being a dick just makes sense for the good of everyone. I'm a humanist now. I like seeing what religious people say about atheist content.

The master replied, "Reciprocity, never choose for another, what you would not choose for yourself." We actually have writings dating back another hundred years to Egypt relating back another THOUSAND years (2000 BC) to the goddess Ma'at about reciprocity, "That which you hate to be done to you, do not do to another." The ancient Hindus and Greeks also had forms of this rule, so it seems just a common human trait that I think is what we call empathy (Unless you are unlucky enough to develop psychopathy or sociopathy), rather than some divine intervention...

but at what % of disagreement with the doctrine of a religion can you no longer say you are a member of that religion. the people that take there religion 100% seriously and often called extremist. i challenge everyone that is part of a religion to answer that question to them selves. then go through your holy text. tally up the tenants of that religion and see if you make the target or not. read it literally, that is how the books are meant to be read in most cases and not out of context. I.E. Ephesians 6:2 “Honor your father and mother” it does not stop there as most people i hear think it does. it goes on. Ephesians 6:3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." sounds not bad. now lets add the context Leviticus 20:9 "If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother, his bloodguiltiness is upon him." so, if you do not honor your father and mother they are instructed to put you to death. Recently got to a place where i could tell my parents my stance out of fear they would not associate with me anymore. I agree with all you said. The idea of all religions is fundamentally the same thing. Do good things. Be a good person. I love the statement if you dont think a bad thing is bad its either not blakc and white or you lack morals and you dont have to have religious beliefs to have morals. If anything organized religion gives people an excuse to be horrible to eavh other because they think no matter what they do they will be forgiven. But peiple who dont fall back on that crutch live every day like our actions define us as people. Not just acting like a shitty person because they have a safety net or forgiveness. That last line at the end, I feel, is the bar of all bars in this song. I'm really glad that you understood it correctly because most reactors don't seem to get it. They hear that and they think "oh, you need to love yourself," which is true, but not the message. They also think it means "you can't rely on others for love, you're all you got," which is also not right. You understand that it's you putting the love that you want to see in the world into the world. If we all did that, then the world could be a much better place. Just imagine if, instead of bombing Ukraine, Putin was talking with them and helping them figure out what's best for them on their terms? Things like that.

Someone nice and easy going. I think its wild how some churches only scream fire and brimstone at ppl and tell them how horrible they are and how vengeful and mean God is then wonder why they don't want to come back to church? Maybe sprinkle in some stories about God being a good guy every now and again see how that goes. I don't even like the term "God fearing" I don't fear god. The way I don't fear my other loved ones. fear is a negative emotion I don't want associated with those who love me. I love your reactions and I love the way you think. I'm not religious but as far as people who believe in god, the ones I like the most are the ones like you, who believe the bible was written by some dudes and not god himself. What I do not agree with, and it's a thing that people who believe in god don't seem to ever understand, is that the reason atheists don't believe in god is not because of how god is characterized by X or Y religion, or by some people within the same religion. That's the same reasoning used by people who think atheists don't believe in god because they hate god, and CHOOSE not to believe in it. It's like you're so convinced that god exists that it's easier to think we hate god rather than thinking of the idea of someone simply not believing in its existence. Understanding how someone could not believe in your god is easier than you think. If you're catholic then that means you don't believe in zeus, or odin or any other god. You are 99% atheist when it comes to the whole pantheon of gods you could believe in, so how is it that weird when someone goes one step further and not only doesn't believe in all the gods you don't, but doesn't believe in yours either. That's the kind of thing you can't imagine only if you never really tried.

We need to start thinking, as a species, about creating our heavens on Earth. Awesome reaction!!! As an atheist it’s always exciting for me to watch religious folk peep this and give their perspective on it. I love that you got it out the gate. I’ve seen a fair amount of reactors push back just on the first line and go downhill from there lol. It’s just a silly song about being objectively good meatsacks. If we could just get out of our own way, then we could see how close to heaven life on earth could be. Don’t be a dick, and the golden rule is golden for a reason. Easy peasy! Now that you’ve seen this I’d love to see you react to Bo’s song ‘rant.’ It’s in the same ballpark thematically but he takes a VERY different approach lol. Cheers!

I love Bo so much and this is a great reaction! Unrelated to Bo, but, based on the things you said, you might like the song "Laughing With" by Regina Spektor edit: and the show The Good Place

I'm so glad you're so open minded. I always find it hilarious when people say something along the lines of "There's gotta be more to this... I certainly hope this life isn't it.." WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN!? The chances of us being here are astronomically low and this life is incredible

If you get a chance, Upchurch did one a couple months ago called "Texas" that I think you might like.

8:00 I am not a Christian and have only ever attended a handful of masses. It's called the Eucharist. How do we not know this?
