My cousin used to train like crazy for soccer. Junior high, highschool, well into his late teens and early twenties. Sometimes we go to the park and he is usually the best player there, by miles. People love playing with him too cause he is a chill dude. He still does drills like that cause hw loves soccer. I asked him one day, why did you stop training for soccer, and he said in a very sad tone "I wasnt good enough" Its crazy to think that my cousin is sooo incredibly talented at soccer, but against the elite, he is considered average.

You’re right, while it looks easier than it is, it’s pretty hard to learn but when you get good at it it’s the easiest thing there is. I’m insanely good at ball control now thanks to the hours of practice I’ve had kicking it against the wall and trapping it, throwing it straight up in the sky and doing my best to control it, I’ve gotten really really good at it.

I was the same 20 years ago........people don't realise, it's just about zoning out and spending hours honing your skills. When you attain a certain amount of muscle memory, you're not even trying any more......it's just pure zen ball control. I used to hang out with an old friend kicking the ball around.......we'd just stand at opposite ends of the local cricket pitch and ping balls to each other from 50 yards. We got so sharp that we were trapping it dead, or volleying it straight back to each other, no bounce.........oh to be 20 years old again, ha!
