The biggest tip I could tell people, that I learned the hard way when buying a house. If you find one you like, be sure to have the realtor show it to you at different times of the day. I looked at the one I bought in the midday both times, and a third time when it was inspected. After moving in I realized that the neighborhood was not at all quiet, and that everyone parked on the street, with two or more drivers per house. So any time that was not work hours, the street was packed with cars, and lots of loud music and kids playing (the kids playing was actually a good thing, and made me smile mostly). And that loud music would go into the very very late hours. So yeah, be sure you know what the area is like at all hours.

I learned this when my family and I went to a local lake to feed the birds/ducks bread & the DNR stopped us and told us to stop, that it was illegal and this was the reason. A hoarder died in my home town, when the county went in her house, they walked out instantly. She was the cat lady, and they couldn't breath in there. So the county called two fire departments, and threw a match on the house. It burned two full days, but when it was done, even the concrete floors were clean. Cracked but clean, they still removed it, and weeks later lush green grass filled the land. They didn't sell the land for a couple of years, had to wait for someone that didn't know the background.

I've never cleaned a bathroom quite that bad but instead of scrubbing the sink and tub and toilet like that one thing that works really good is just putting the gel type of toilet cleaner all over everything and letting it sit for a few minutes. I've cleaned an entire shower/bathtub that was badly stained from hard water like that several times.
