As a previous runner, people don’t understand how brutal and challenging running can be. The man in the video likely is eating much more than the average person. Since he’s a marathon runner he’s probably burning at least 1k calories from training alone (rough estimate might be higher). Everyone’s got different goals and strengths. A bodybuilder could lift more weight than a runner but could not come close to the same level of a runner aerobically. Same goes viste versa.

Running is much harder than bodybuilding or powerlifting. Give that man his respect
@AngrySlav-mh7ph Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say “harder” because it depends on your goal. If you’re training for Mr. Olympia you’re working your ass off for hours every day. And anyone can be a crappy runner without much effort such as myself. For olympic runners though yes it’s also insanely difficult since they’re running between 80 and 100 miles per week.

@@annomynous.2685 In my experience running is easier. I saw more gains with running than bodybuilding/powerlifting. It takes far less time to become competition ready in running (in my case, my weak self was running marathons within 1.5 years starting from only being able to run for 3mins at a time) than in lifting. Once you're joining competitions, it's much easier to push yourself and to stick to a routine. Running also takes less discipline and less mental real estate. Especially as an ectomorph, I have to do a significant lifestyle change just to get better at the gym: getting better sleeping habits, counting calories/protein, eating more is always a big chore, planning meals and lift progression, bulk/cutting cycles, supplements, etc. Even if I didnt ate well that day, I can still smash my running goals for that day, whereas with lifting you'd definitely feel the need to having eaten well the past 24 hours if you want to lift plates. The marathon with lifting is seeing hardly noticeable gains for a year, and having to push yourself to still hit the gym to do these boring exercises and continue that lifestyle. The bodybuilder lifestyle is harder once you're out of college and have more responsibilities. I just gave up lifting and just replaced it with BJJ + crossfit + marathons + spartan races. That may sound a lot more but the training for these is less grindy and more fun, and each benefits the other like for example BJJ benefits a lot from crossfit/lifting as most throws and takedowns in competition are mostly based on explosive strength than technique, meanwhile BJJ makes you train a more dynamic endurance because BJJ has an extremely high effort-to-pause ratio (most people in my gym even quit other cardio and now just rely on BJJ) where according to studies it's 6:1.

When i pushed myself to the max, running the last 1km of my 5k was running on the edge of self destruction, I'd literally cross the line and collapse and close my eyes, gasping for air, suffering systematic fatigue, couldnt walk for 5 mins. In body building, you only ever push yourself to failure for short periods, 10s of seconds at a time. With running, you can be on the edge of failure (in my case) for -510 mins.
