Maybe they can publish a schedule when things like this would happen. Shostakovich was a genius and this is one of my favourite pieces, very appropriately arranged, too. Even Stalin thought he was a genius. The story goes that he was ordered to come for an 'ínterview' during the purges but there were so many people he was told to come back the nect day. He duly rocked up but the man at the desk said 'go home, you are not on the list'. Shostakovich was fearful what might happen if he left. But the man insisted that if he was not on the list, he was not on the list. I don't know how much he wrote after that. I cannot vouch for that being true, I was not there in Moscow in the 1930s.

Most beautiful waltz. Composer fell afoul of Uncle Joe and his thought police because his music wasn't 'political' enough. That's communism for you.

Hi friends! Are there no symphony orchestras near you? Tickets are surprisingly affordable and they often have student rates or tickets that are available as donations for folks who can't afford to come. If they do open dress rehearsals, those are often also inexpensive or sometimes free. ❤
