Welcome to Final Fantasy. I had the same reaction when I first played Final Fantasy. But it was back in 1990. I was 11 years old and all I knew was platformer games. Final Fantasy made me read things and feel things. I started to care about the story and the people. I was enthralled with the series since then.

Great job for first FF timer! You did very well indeed. Fast learner combatant is always joy to watch. Now there is a function call ‘activate real time lore’ when you press the controller pad at any given time (except during combat) which shows and explains all the relevant characters and places in that particular scene up to the point of the story. That will answer a lot of your questions.

I been watching everyone's reactions to this demo amd man you kept me well entertained. I subscribed and will follow your first journey into the ff world. We all had our first time. Mine was way back when ff 7 released. Changed my whole outlook on rpgs and been a fan ever since. You didn't choose a bad one to start with by the looks of this demo this game is hitting all the right buttons I think we got a hit on our hands and much needed for the series. This team worked on ffxiv if you care it's an mmo but great entry in the series.

Lol bro you’re playthrough was hilarious and great. I love seeing people new to FF play my favorite franchise. FF has great games, and they all have their own story and world. If you enjoy this you should try FFVII Remake, that would be fire to watch. Some things to note about FF, the bird the Archduke was riding and those others is called a Chocobo, they are a staple in FF games, as well as the Eikons, they have different names in different games but they are Eikons, Summons, Aeons, Eidolons all the same. Ones like Ifrit, the fire demon looking one and Shiva the ice lady are in almost every FF game. But yeah, the stories of the FF games are legendary. But yeah if you want to experience one of the best FF games FFVII Remake is a upgraded expanded version of a game that transformed JRPG’s when it came out. Iconic for sure. Great play through , I really enjoyed watching your vid!

Ok, so a few things to know: There's something called Active Time Lore that you can see any time you paused during a cutscene. During almost all cutscenes, if you hold down the touch pad, you will pop up a special screen that shows all of the information that you might be confused about. Why do some people have those tattoos? What is a Dominant? Who is this character? The character descriptions change as the cutscene progresses and the game progresses. Anabella, for example (the evil mom), has her passage update between when you first meet her and see her in the bedchamber later, and then during the final cutscene, which reveals that she betrayed her husband because she felt the empire was more powerful and that it was better to ally with them, and her plan was possibly to bring her son with her as the Dominant of the Phoenix. Something you learn from the ATL is that Jill is a ward. If you watched Game of Thrones, think about Theon Greyjoy and how he was a ward. In Jill's case, people of northern tribes had kept raiding Rosarian lands until they were quelled by the archduke (the dad), and Jill was taken as a ward, and was raised alongside Joshua and Clive who treat her like a sister. The flashback takes place 13 years before the present time, not 3. Since Clive is 15, I would guess that Jill is maybe 13-14, and Joshua looks 10-12. Clive is indeed the same as the person known as "Wyvern." The group you see at the beginning are known as The Bastards, and they're all Bearers, people who have that tattoo and are slaves that get traded around between nations as magic users (much like the guy with the tattoo holding a crate of apples, as well as people in the garden who were trimming hedges with wind magic), which is considered a cheaper resource than using crystals for daily magic needs, which are a limited resource. Everyone in The Bastards have a code name named after a dragon, such as the leader blonde guy who's name is Tiamat, and Clive is Wyvern. So from this, we know that Clive effectively became a slave soldier to the imperial army. In the options, you can turn on Speaker Name for subtitles. During the scene right before Eikon of Fire appears, we see the POV of Clive looking at Lord Commander Rodney, and then the camera swerves towards the glowing red fire man, where he says "What in the name of...?" This suggests that the Eikon of Fire we see is not Clive, but it doesn't explain HOW Clive survives the blast that incinerates Rodney instantly. And yes, you had both the auto-dodge ring and the auto-combo rings equipped, which is why you were doing combos that you weren't inputting along with your own actual inputs. To be honest, the ring that helps you dodge by slowing down time so that you can manually dodge instead of the auto-dodge is a decent one to wear if you end up having trouble with the game, but yes they're accessibility accessories to help players who can't play games very easily or well.

16 is a great game in my opinion, but it is controversial. However, I'm not sure if this game is the best introduction to the franchise for a newcomer. Some may say it is, but I'm not sure. I will admit that it is one of the most accessible FF games out there because it is mostly straightforward and gives you a lot of options to reduce the number of actions you have to take and make the game relatively easy, but that is not what FF games are usually about. So if you play 16 and like it, you'll probably have a hard time getting into another FF game because it's a very different experience. btw. that "red dot" is METIA, the star Jill refferenced in the cutscene with clive after his meeting with his father.

Jill is a “ward” of the Rosfields. Basically, after the archduke stopped the uprisings in the north they “adopted” her from them as collateral. If you’ve seen game of thrones, think Theon Greyjoy living with the Starks.
