I think it is important to recognise that they haven't decided to ship a subpar game. That should be appreciated. Now, what I would say is it us unreasonable for them to sell a FM26 next season considering 25 is losing half of it's shelf. If they make 26 a half orice update to fm25 for those who bought it, I'm cool with that.

Yeah, I have seen a lot of people saying they should skip 25, but even before the licensing issues, which I'm sure were made with the expectation that they'd use the income from an annual release to pay for said licenses, I seriously doubt that their books are set up in such a way to just skip an entire year of sales. I don't think any company's are. I think a big data update to FM 24, for a low, low price (like, under $10) or for free would be a solid make-good with the community.

I don't think you have to worry about that, it doesn't seem like they will be able to develop an FM26 anytime soon. The concerning part is that there isn't any indication of any enthusiasm from SI, something like "This feature looks fantastic and you are going to love it but we need to make sure is working 100%"... nothing, they can't show, can't tell. It is incredible, the only company able to sell the same game for 25 years found a way kill the golden egg chicken.

We don't know how the game is going to be yet. It could still be a mess when released. They are leaving it as late as possible but that doesn't mean it will be ready at that point and it looks like they will have to release it due to contracts with SEGA.

@@Prederick People were looking to skip FM25 due to the content being taken out, the new UI and the fact it would likely be a bit of a buggy mess due to the switch to Unity. It's not the fans job to keep the corporation afloat by buying a sub standard game.

For me personally, I don’t mind it being delayed until March, I’m older than you Z, I remember the switch over from CM3 (CM 01/02) to CM4, and that one was similarly pushed back until March with CM 03/04 coming out in November… but, it’s the DISHONESTY that’s really pissed me off here! There is no way in hell that they didn’t know it wasn’t going to be finished by the end of November. No chance… so, to put the game up for Pre-Order last week, KNOWING it wouldn’t be ready, is just fucking so scummy and has broken the trust of the community. We are a very loyal community, let’s be honest, like I said, some of us have been playing since it was Championship Manager - I’ve been playing since Championship Manager 1993! - so to lie to us deliberately, to deceive us like this, and to put it out for a pre-order with no Beta is just a fucking scumbag practice Edit - I can see FM25 being their lowest selling game in the series because of this

If you know a product isn’t going to work, and you know there’s no way you can release it on a set date in November, then to offer it up for a pre-order, knowing that, is a scumbag practice. Saying “well you can have a refund” afterwards isn’t something to be commended!!! It’s literally the bare minimum. You pre-ordered it with a set release date of whatever it was, 26th of November or something. So when they say “actually it’s not going to be released until March” then that’s essentially a breach of contract so they have to offer a refund anyway, they aren’t doing that out of the kindness of their hearts

This was exactly my thoughts, they hoped they could get away with a dud released close to the normal release before Christmas but when they saw the online reaction they realised they wouldn't get away with it I also said March will be because it's before the end of the financial year. Me and Zealand are in tune.

To everyone saying they should just skip FM25, that's just not an option. They'll be conractually obliged to release a game each financial year as part of their agreement with Sega. This is the only game this studio makes, so they have to release a new game in this financial year as without it they'd probably go under. No idea what this will mean for FM26 and when that will get released. This is by far the best and most honest take I've seen from any of the FM content creators. I've worked a little in development and this just stinks of really poor project management. They may have been under pressure from Sega to give a release date and open up pre-orders, but the studio surely knew when they did that the game was nowhere near being ready for November, but they did it anyway. A situation that would have caused the launch to be delayed for a further five or six months doesn't happen overnight, or in the space of a week. This is all about project management and this looks like it's been managed very badly. They also really need to improve their marketing and PR, because this whole thing has been one giant cluster fuck.

I hope someone does some actual journalism just on the decision-making process here, but I'm really curious as to whether this is SI's fault for bad project management, or if Sega was demanding it come out for November no matter what and they just couldn't make it work. Publishers have done worse, frankly. (I imagine it's a bit of both, ultimately.)

Like you mentioned none of us know for sure. My best guess is that the dev team said the game was behind and Sega said "we already pushed it back once, we need to get it published." and held a firm release date. Whether the negative feedback or developers talked some sense into them, they made the right decision to postpone the game. It's disappointing and the communication was poorly handled at best. Delaying the game has pissed people off, but I think it's a better option than releasing a half-baked game. No Man's Sky, despite fixing most of their game into what many call a good game now, will never shed the label of their half-assed launch.

Anyways, regarding the delay, I would've been fine with it if they would release a FREE database update for the current season for FM24 as compensation for the delay. What I am really worried about is how this delay will affect future releases. FM26 might become what FM25 was supposed to be with only adding national teams again and with a database update. I can't see how they are able to do any meaningful content to get themselves back on track.

Honestly at this point, I'd rather they just cancel the game, bring out an official 24/25 squad update for FM24 and commit to releasing FM26 on time. If they stick to a November release date for FM26 then there's only going to be an 8 month gap between FM25 and 26, I'd rather they cancel the next game and just focus on bringing out a 'perfected' version for the end of 2025.

Honestly, I got the vibe that this might happen in September, and honestly, I'm not that arsed about it. Everything about the run-up to this game indicated that it was going to be like when a new Madden comes out on a new console, which is to say janky and not really capable of using its full potential. Whenever it drops, I don't think FM 25 will be great, it'll show promise, but it'll be lesser than FM 24, and we won't see it really beginning to fulfill its potential until FM 26. C'est la vie. I started a new FM 24 save last night, and I got other stuff to play.

If they had just delayed to FM26, they would’ve gotten applause and cheers from the community (after the initial shock) because they took the hit to put out a polished product and they listened to the fans. They have to know that this is destined to destroy sales for both 25 and 26. Why buy 26 when you just bought 25? Why buy 25 when you could just buy 26? Why buy either when 25 is already a mess and will only be viable for a few months before the new season, and they couldnt make 25 in 2 years, so theres no way 26 will be good after 6 months, so may aswell wait until 27? Im being fully serious, was intending to skip 24, but I may just wait until the next sale, buy it, and wait until 27, if I'm even still interested in the game at that point. I really dont think I will be, especially since, as someone who has played THOUSANDS of hours of Madden, I hate tile-based systems with an absolute passion, which adds just another thing onto the pile of reasons I have to just not pick the game back up. I havent even played in 5 months as of now.

If there was a need for more proof that fm25 will be a shit show is this delay. They had years, YEARS, to work on this change and they failed, it's not now - within a couple of months - that they'll fix all the issues they're having, with unity, etc... The fact that we had absolutely no match engine videos, no presentations whatsoever regarding the game where they showed details of stuff, etc... Is telling. This is a Ubisoft moment for SI, at this point they might have just kept releasing the same game over and over again as they've been doing it and people would still begrudgingly buy it. Because don't forget, this game HAS LESS FEATURES than FM2024 and it got delayed! This issue started all wrong as soon as they announced that FM26 would be the real game changer, this one would be setting the stage for that change. Or in other words "hey, test this game for us full price with less features where we port the rest of the game to unity and still be able to fulfill our contractual obligations with Sega".

The 'other' console football game has been blighted ever since it dropped FIFA, some say the last good FIFA Game was 2019 or 2020. I haven't bought it since. FM needed to change, I got 2021 for the xbox one and the graphics look worse than FIFA 94, and that was also on Sega Megadrive, I also had Premier League Manager for the megadrive and it didn't even bother with showing you clips of football matches all it was ball ticking back and forth from side to side and when a goal was scored it was a pixilated graphic and the word goal. I had EA sports Championship manager for the PS1 and I can't remember any clips from that game either. These new graphics were to advance the game into the future, making it more accessible to the 'FIFA' game players. Ie players looking like the actual players. This changes when regens are added and players playing FM for inxs of 10 or so season's building a team and most people don't want to buy the add ons for the 'skins' so you have a player represented instead of a grey figure. Like I said I have 2021 on the xbox and it hasn't got a big database. Some players disappear from save to save depending on your Countries you want to 'scout' also 2021 that was when brexit came into the gameplay eg I went Volendam and in 2020 when the game starts they have Micky van de Veen as a 18 yr old (Spurs). Reasonably good player got Volendam promoted (No money for winning league) and finished 4th eredivisie in my first year after promotion, Feyenoord asked me to be manager, couldn't beat Ajax or PSV. So started another save went Hertha Berlin went to Volendam to buy Micky and he wasn't there checked the search he didn't exist. I don't get it. I was looking forward to FM25, I think I might wait for FM26, I Have an S Series XBOX , hopefully the next gen console will be better than xbox one and the covid 2021.
