And what does George do for a follow up? After The Beatles officially break up, he goes off and makes one greatest records ever. All Things Must Pass. So many amazing songs, some dating back to The White Album sessions. But he was the third man on the totem pole so he had to wait for his time to shine.

Was a triple album because he had so much material back logged from at least four or five years as a Beatle.George was always the peacemaker or spiritual one of the group.

The Beatles were very exceptional in many ways but their song writing situation was amazing ,In most bands the band is begging for songs from any of them ,In the Beatles with Lennon and Mac George had to push in ,,
@moocrumpus10623 жыл бұрын
This is not quite right. George has slowly been able to build up his self-confidence. Certainly understandable given the competition in the band, he was also still the youngest. But look at 'Let It Be' tapes or movie. George is still quite unsure about the direction his songs will take. John, Paul and Ringo talk to him for days and work on his songs together. In the end, his versions on All Things Must Pass are pretty close to what he had worked out with the other Beatles.

Wait a minute, yes, George was also a great songwriter, but remember JOHN and PAUL were the ones composing the bulk of the Beatles songs, from the start before George started to blossom as a great song writer, so to say that there would be no Beatles without George, is not really right. John and Paul's song writing is what got them a recording contract. If Paul hadn't met John at that church Fete in 1956, there more than likely would have been NO Beatles at all. It was also important that Paul knew George, and then introduced him to John. Even though John felt George was "too young" the fact that George could play "Raunchy" (a popular 1950's rock instrumental) is what got George in the band.

At some point you should check out the two modern Beatles tracks from the Beatles Anthology series, with modern tracks from the surviving Beatles fleshing out two Lennon demos, Free As A Bird and Real Love. Amazing videos (especially Free As A Bird IMO). The only real detraction is that Lennon's vocals are rough demo quality, but that kind of works like he's contributing from another realm in a ghostly, ethereal manner.

I don't think they were the best song writers of all time - outstandingly good considering their mainly self taught background but there were many amazing and talented writers before them. Paul McCartney's favourite writer was Cole Porter who wrote songs that are still played everyday somewhere in the world. I don't know if you have any technical music background but Porter's songs were noted for chord progressions which complemented the nuances of the lyrics They may not be to your taste but taste is subjective. It would be interesting to hear how you feel about the song Back In The U.S.S.R. as they mention your area in it. :) But do you get the clever joke? You have to be aware of Ray Charles and the Beach Boys to get the whole thing.
